Hi!

I just bought a 'Intel Celeron 331' just for fun. I have ASUS P5WDG2 WS Pro and the BIOS version 0005 installed on my board (wich in my opinion is the best for overclocking Kentsfield).

A few days ago I tried to find the max CPU-freq for the Celeron but got to a limit at FSB@265

When trying to change the FSB to 266 or higher with AIBooster it wants me to reboot so that the changes will be applied. I can not boot @266x20. YET! :D

Is it possible to make the AIBooster not to want to reboot when changing FSB from <266 to =>266? Any way to get around it? I will try SetFSB when I have the chance.

And if someone could explain why this accures at 265-266MHz I would be glad. I guess it has to to with 533MHz and 1066MHz strap?

Thanks in advance!
/Anders

look for a clockgen or setFSB for that board.
avoid AIbooster when you can.

its too slow and cautious and wants to reboot too often.
SetFSB or Clockgen are much much more OC friendly.

I have tried a few versions of clockgen but no luck. :(

I guess AIBooster is the 'problem' then. I have exactly the same issue with Kentsfield. @18*266 AIBooster wants me to reboot.

Does it have to do with the strap's? Something like that AIBooster reads the straps of the board but clockgen and SetFSB do not?

I will try SetFSB within a week or so and post the result.

Thanks for your reply and have a nice 2007! :D

think adding some more voltage to the chipset might help

is the vcore maxed out ?

About being able to boot @20*266 I guess you are right. I had 1.71v Vcore but I have plenty more to give. :) How much voltage can I give this CPU? I had no problems what so ever to keep the temps low with LN2.

At 20*265 the Celeron seems rock solid so when I am inside windows 1.71v should not be the reason for AIBooster to tell me to reboot when changing the FSB from 265 to 266.

The voltage for the chipset(s) and RAMs is enough. I can have much higher FSB with other CPUs.
