i just ordered my new 9600 pro and was lookin at a review on hard ocp. looks like the 9500 pro beats it out?!?! i am praying this is due to drivers, because i'd hate to waste my money like so. i bought the 9600 pro for around $185, whereas the 9800 pro is still $400 (my reasoning for the 9600 pro). what do you guys think??
btw, i will oc it and post results asap
nope the 9500 Pro is quicker :)
the 9600 has a lousy rating in the name :/

its quicker for the most part, but with overclocking it can be on par with a 9500, the 9600 has some mad head room it seems

yeah, as i am reading the specs and reviews, it seems right now the 9500 pro is the way to go. but all these tests are dx 7 and 8, not 9, which is where the 9600 pro will show its colors. as for ocing, no program will do it yet, but they will soon i'm sure. i feel once some newer drivers and benchmarks with dx9 (games too, obviously) come out, people will switch. it does seem to me that my 9600 pro will have alot of ocing potential once the ocing tools are ready for it. either way, im happy...tis card won't be outdated for a long time
i think the 9600 performs less ebcause it is actually a cut down verison wheras the 9500 just had bits disabled
not sure if thsi is true but if it is would expalin the perfomance of it

CCW is right, the 9600 Pro runs higher clock speeds and has other optimizations, but only has 4 pixel pipelines versus the 8 on the 9500 Pro.
Stupidity by ATI, wtf are they bringing out a new card that is slower for? Maybe they're getting embarrassed about their current lead over Nvidia and want to cut them some slack.

well, it looks like i'm the guinea pig for this card. i'll see if it can oc enough to be better than a oc'ed 9500
