Just curious if anyone could help me out.
This headset is pretty cheap and I really could use one, so I'm just curious if anyone knows if this is a good headset

I would recommend getting real headphones and an external mic. Headsets generally have bad quality sound. Try starting at www.headphone.com and www.headfi.com

Steel basically sells crap other than mousepads :( Like kobalt said, a desktop mic and good headphones are the way to go. Your best bet is to get a pair of audiotechnica A500s from AudioCubes.com (http://www.audiocubes.com/product/Audio-Technica_ATH-A500_Art_Headphones.html) for 90 bucks + shipping and be done with it. They're extremely good headphones for gaming with a wide sound stage and good noise isolation and they're also light years better than any steel/icemat/plantronics ripoff headsets for music.
The sennheiser HD555s are also good and cost about the same but are open ear (leaks sound and provides no isolation) and are better suited for classical music than the A500s while still great for gaming.

I've used that mic for the past year and it's built well and sounds good.
