Is there any way to disable this? The screen shakes like crazy when you are going over a rough surface, even with the camera set to "far". It gives me a headache after only one race

Also, this game runs like crap, for what it is. My X800XL can barely handle it, to run "ok" I have to turn shaders to low and world detail to medium.
My rig should have no problem with this game, yet it constantly runs choppy, and the camera shake is enough to give me a headache when going over rough surfaces (about 50% of the time).
The cars seem to run pretty good, but its the ground/buildings that seem to "skip" and run sort of choppy and it really bothers me. I've tried many settings (including Vsync) with no effect.
Underground 2 runs a lot smoother, with everything turned up.

That used to happen to me in Swat4, man it was annoying, anyway i'll gladly sell you my 7600GT if you'd like? :D Most wanted is really laggy at 16*10 and if i turn down the settings it looks like crap no way:p:

I had that as well, it was the paging file in my occasion... Turned it off and the game ran fine afterwards, although it keeps saying I'm out of ram now

Hmm I might try that. I know I have disabled it before, but with bad results. I have 2gb of RAM but because some things rely on the page file regardless, I ended up with a lot of errors.
The game does this even at 640x480...imagine how bad that looks on a 22" LCD...

ya my own experience and opinion was that Most Wanted looked better then Carbon but that carbon was way harder on the hardware.
asif both were made by diffrent teams.
i upped the fps by alot by killing motion blur.
am hoping that the new test drive will b nice.

And at the same time I say this, I hear from a guy "I am not having any problems with my 9600 Pro"

its just another EA title thats not yet finished but just good enough to release it to the market.

Well they do have to keep up the tradition of one NFS per year... :slap: My 7800GT can't handle it at 1680x1050 unless I turn down the things like crazy.

I checked my framerate today. It runs between 40-60fps which is smooth play territory. Often times its bumping against 60fps which is the refresh rate of my screen. There is something else in the coding preventing this game from running as well as the past NFS games.

it could help to disable vsync. though you will get horrible tearing at only 60Hz.

Not an option, on this monitor just about any game looks terrible without Vsync. Every game I have ran, runs smoother with it on.
That includes Carbon, Titan Quest, and Doom 3.

looks okay on my 7900gt, can't play it with really much eye candy. Although I haven't encountered any of the issues you guys have. Maybe I'm just used to it

On my sisters X850XTPE/165@1.8, she runs it max details noAA/AF just fine - in the 40-60 zone constantly.

like it or not Carbon is a rather beefy game graphically and you gott a have the power to push it or it will run like crap.
dont go thinkin yor gunna crank the rez and candy if you aint got a newer system.
ther eis tons of effects going on on screen and that takes alot of juice to run it.
use your brain when you play games and set up the graphics.
a 3700 w/ a gig of ram and an X800 XL isnt bad by any means but when it comes to graphics that just isnt gunna allow you to run much over 1024 with all the stuff turned up. excluding AA/AF
as for the camera shake ? that isnt a graphical thing and your not going to gain anything by turning it off.
things like reflections, blur, car update, etc those can be tasking.

Well my X800XL is running Carbon @ 1680x1050 with 2xAA/2xAF at 40-60fps so there you go...granted the "Shaders" option is on low. That severely hampers performance - it will take the framerate from 60 to 20 which isn't feasable to play with.
Again I'm not saying the framerate is the problem; it isn't. The game runs choppy at parts even with the frames stuck at the 60Hz limit of the LCD. Past NFS games just ran smoother, period. That includes Underground 2 which is still installed on here.

I have a core2duo @ 3600MHz and an overclocked 8800GTX and the game still runs like crap. NFS = crappy port.

Pretty much every setting can be maxed but check your "Shader Detail" (I think its called). I'd love to use it but it just kills the framerate. Try dropping that and it should be very playable and at a very high framerate, but not without the problems I noted above.
