I've been thinking about finally making the switch to LCD recently (I'm still running a 22" CRT), but I'm not sure what to do. I really want a larger screen, so I'm thinking of going for a 24" Widescreen LCD. I can't afford to spend a ton of money right now. I've found this Acer AL2423Wdr (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824009089) for a good price and I'm reading some good things about it. Does anyone know anything about this monitor?

I mostly play games, but I also do some programming at home. I really want a widescreen monitor. I currently run everything at 1600x1200 res, so I like that the 24" monitors run 1920x1200 res. So, is the Acer worth going for? Is there another monitor that would suit me better (not too expensive please, I really can't afford too much)?

I'm also considering getting one of these. The response time and specs look good, and it has great reviews.
I just don't see why the 24" lcd's are double the price of 22" lcd's...

I'm getting ready for a 24" myself I think I'm going to get the benQ although its 799 right now on the egg, so it may be more then you want to spend, but its got a really nice panel (p-mva)

I can tell you why. I did a lot of research into this very subject...

If you do some looking around you will find that you are not just paying for 2 more inches. You are paying for a completely different panel, a much better stand (usually) and a lot of connectivity options, viewing modes, etc. But the panel is the main difference.

All the 22" models use a TN panel.

And TN panels are cheap, are poor in overal performance but only excel in rated response times (I am explicitly stating rated as these panels go thrue these tests with flying colors because of the way they are rated)
