Can somebody please explain how to tweak RAM timings like I'm a 3 year old. I understand what each number does from reading but it seems there is an order that one should follow in order to precission tweak RAM timings to get the best timings for the sticks. I'd also like to know if people really trust the settings that nTune comes up with for performance as it seems to set really REALLy loose timings for my RAM but then others say Ballistix is good RAM to OC. I set the BIOS to those settings and it seems to work well but very loose in my mind to really do 3D well.

This is the thread I've been reading trying to make heads or tails of all this. http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=320351. I'm also more about getting the PC tuned for optimum performance rather than going super super fast so as fast as I can go while being as stable as possible is the ultimate goal.

sorry but there is no magic setting every mobo, ram , chipset has different results even if some one has same items ram may behave differently. that is what makes ocing interesting but usually raising the primary timing to 5-5-5-15 or looser will get pretty high speeds. where 4-4-3-8 will give good performance. consult other people with your mobo to see what subtimings work good and mem-test them.
tighter timings almost always require higher v-dimm to remain stable. also i don't know much about your particular board but working with dividers can make huge differences in bandwidth. just need to try different things and see what works in your rig.
