Is anybody playing this game? What do you think of it? What are your thoughts on character creation, skills, game world, combat, stealth, magic, solo play, internet play, etc? Thanks.

it's a fun game, supposedly the new pack that just came out offers more possible solo play, the first one pretty much forced you to go online and get real people with real brains. Which wasn't much fun unless you were a monk or abnormally high leveled for that mission.
The character creation should at least take some of your thought process to start out with, you can make about any class work to some extent, but you're going to have a hard time getting people to join your party as a ranger/mesmer or something weird. Find some forums, read up on a couple succesful builds, not that different from any other RPG, this one isn't hardcore at all, you won't really be stuck in a certian ladder.
I enjoyed it for a couple of months and sold my character on ebay for a $100 profit, can't complain!

I've played since the betas, I'm really enjoying it still.
Nightfall has the easiest curve to pick up, and the most opportunity for solo play. I recommend trying it if you're interested, it's free monthly, so no big loss if you're not happy.

I've been playing Nightfall for a while now and I must say it's a very fun game and the graphics are decent. It's a great game for solo'ing as you can use various henchies instead of forming a party consisting of other real players.
The game lacks a bit in the way of manufactured goods, skills, and classic zones (all GW explorable zones are instanced, I personally don't like it as much this way). It would also be nice to have handcrafted armor and weps, etc. It does miss some of the more in depth features of other MMO's but it is a really fun game, and the PVP is awesome.
Give it a shot, i don't reckon you'll regret it.

If more people here play, we may should meet up sometime.
I was a long time diablo II addcit, I heard that guildwar is suppose be a good game if you liked diablo. I went out and bought the collector's edition when it came out, and I played it but found the learning curve much much greater. the game can be very deep if you want to own in it. its not really meant for solo play (at least the original pack), but I heard other packs are different. I like how the game's art and feel of involvement, but the UI is the challenging part. if you like PVP (player versus player) especially in multiplayer battle, this is something not to be missed. otherwise, you may want to take other's advice and buy the Nightfall pack and try that instead. overall I like it, and probably will buy more expansion pack, even thought I mostly play PVM (player versus monster)

Thanks for the input. I'm going to give Nightfall a try after I finish my latest build.

Good game, character creations is on the good side, crafting armor and other things is fun, after hitting a certain point in the game skill comes into play a great deal, since max level is only 20 and enimies rise up to 31 or something like that (Glint?). Magic is pretty decent, cept i rele wouldnt know due to the fact that im like a warrior in every game :) . Havent played nightfall yet, but in previous versions of GW soloing isnt the easiest thing, all in all its a very good game, ill be buying nightfall soon!

meh, it could be better.
i haven't really been pulled into it, in the last 7 months
that I have owned it. You end up paying almost as much
as if you were to play WoW. WoW is much better when
you want to be engrossed in something.
Guild Wars $50, Guild Wars: Factions $50, Guild Wars: Nightfall $50
Neversoft plans on releasing a new expansion every 6 months.
All-in-all it is a pretty game. It just isn't my cup of tea. not enough
different types of armor. Too big of a learning curve. Instanced.
GMs are basically non-existant. No real simple way of hooking up
with friends.
If you can, try it out. borrow it from a
friend or if you have the cash, maybe buy it.
I'd give the game a 3/5.
