Last patch looks to have beefed the living crap out of Allies tanks main guns 2-3 shots into FRONT armor of a stug = death from a sherm 4. So in the last several games I've noticed that as long as there's a chokepoint to defend, airborne become completely unbeatable. They have limitless resources from the ridiculously overpowered drop ability, tanks that are as strong if not stronger then axis AT tanks (the panther and tiger are utterly unusable as their snail in molasses maneuverability means that a single front aligned AT gun or a couple Artillery/howitzer/bombing runs can wipe out 30-60 manpower points worth of them) , tanks are FAR more maneuverable. They can easily completely remove Unarmored units from the axis side with the (again ridiculously overpowered) strafing run. They can eliminate ANY stationary and MOST mobile heavy gun defenses with a 125-250 munition ability (again ridiculously overpowered)... repeatedly considering their limitless munitions. They can roll a vehicle to any given cap point, drop airborn and break up your economy while you're involved in a battle all in a matter of seconds. They can reinforce their AT guns and drop AT guns behind your force, repeatable every minute or so. They can scout run and then bomb absolutely anywhere on the map and share this ability with their allies, thus allowing any number of artillery strikes on a base without any kind of local presence. Scout planes are also fast enough many times AA tanks wont even bother to shoot at them.
Hell, that's just a sample of what comes to mind in a few minutes thinking about it. For the insane degree of power the airborne branch offers, the loss in tank ability (Oh no I can't repair all my tanks at once or get a tank with a rocket launcher that only airborne can afford to use anyway) is nowhere near severe enough. Due to their limitless fuel and munitions for upgrades, Airborne tank forces are in fact almost always superior to Armoreds. Armoreds ONLY advantage is light vehicle capture... which airborne does almost as well with paratroopers. Infantry's advantages? I'd say rangers (who needs rangers when ya can afford all the tanks you want), and howitzer (which is really only especially powerful with the help of airborn's scouting ability).
And ranks seem to mean almost nothing for allies anymore. I've had fresh airborne stand toe to toe with a more than three times superior rank 3 grenadier force and had the fight last more than a minute without the use of cover.
