Can somebody please explain how to tweak RAM timings like I'm a 3 year old. I understand what each number does from reading but it seems there is an order that one should follow in order to precission tewak RAM timings to get the best timings for the sticks. I'd also like to know if people really trust the settings that nTune comes up with for performance as it seems to set really REALLy loose timings for my RAM but then others say Ballistix is good RAM to OC. I set the BIOS to those settings and it seems to work well but very loose in my mind to really do 3D well.

This is the thread I've been reading trying to make heads or tails of all this. http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=320351

your better off to post this in the memory section as its dedicated to ram,,
this is an intel section, for intel stuff. ram is ram no matter what platform its on. thus my recomendation to post a thread in the memory section.

since you dont have any of your hardware listed there isnt much anyone can do but point you towards another FAQ or two that will probably keep you just as confused.

but usually keep this in mind. when you see people talk about ram its always like this.
4-4-4-12 or 4-3-3-9 or 5-5-5-15. usually in that order.
now there are a selct few from overseas that use 4-4-12-4 or some other variations. but they use the metric system too so,, we know how backwards they are.
haha im totally kidding guys.

4-4-4-12 are the 4 settings in general that you really ever have to worry about, only under hardcore tweaking situations do you need to worry about those other ones.

usually you wont gain anything by messing with those others unless its an amd64 939 or 754 system and an DFI board.

anywho. ..

Call me a moron if you must but I dont seem to see a memory section in these forums. I see audio, video, PSU's, Storage and General hardware but no dedicated Memory forums.

As for my rig specs, just on the off chance that someone sees this here and knows the answer, there are as follows;

ASUS P5N32-E SLI v.0405 (have v.0602 DL'ed to the Laptop but not flashed yet.)
E6600 @ 3200 Week 31 B2 Step w/ Tuniq Tower 120 and AS5
2x1GB Ballistix DDR2-800
Single EN8800GTS
Dual 160GB Caviar 3GB/s SATA in RAID/0
SATA 16x DVD/CDRW drive.
OCZ 700W GXS
Gigabyte 3D Aurora Aluminum case

Mods:
added a 40mm fan to the NB and running the case fans directly of the PSU through a Molex adapter. Might do the Vcore mod once I know exactly how its done but not certain I'm gonna stick with this board right now.

With a rig like that, you won't need to mess with you Ram...Just run it 1:1 and you'll be fine for as far as that E6600 can go...Also, update you sig so that it includes your OC...

Also, DL memclock....that quick & easy...

Thanks for that help. I read some in XTreme bandwidth and figured it was all about ISP Speed. I'll repost there as well.

Also I now have my Rig in my Sig. Another OC Forums I'm on limits sigs to initiated members so I forgot to edit that. thanks for the reminder.
