Ok, if i got the Adjustable Enermax 120mm fan and a 120mm to 80mm fan adapter, would that be ALLOT quiter and even cooler than my current 80mm 52cfm, 41dba Sunon fan?
Here are the specs on that fan..

Model No. UC-12FAB
rpm 1800 2300
Rated Voltage 12V 12V
Rated Current 0.12A 0.20A
Power Input 1.44W 2.4W
Air Flow(max) 63.05CFM 94.92CFM
Noise 24.60dB 30.10dB

So thats 63CFM @ 24.6dba right... well with an adaptor, if i kept that fan on low, then wouldnt it push more air than my other fan and also be ALLOT quieter.. let me know what you think. I found the fan here http://www.dealsonic.com/en12balbearc.html for $17 and i could use this fan adaptor for $10 http://www.xoxide.com/12to80fanad.html what do you guys think.. would it be REALLY REALLY quiet?.. basically i dont want to loose any cooling here (i would like to increase the cooling!) but i want to make it as silent as i can.. this Sunon fan in here is sounding like a freakin' tank!

not only will it work, it will work better than the original just because of the liftoff/offset created by the adaptor. it locates the fan above the heatsink and creates a ram effect..............

now the dead spot in the middle of the fan is less of a drawback and you will get better airflow to the center of the heatsink, thus getting real nice temps.

you could probably l lower the rpms on that 120 to almost silent.

i have one of these Adjustable Enermax 120's (the pink/light purple one) pumping air in my side panel, for gaming i crank her up to max and she makes a bit of noise at full blast, but @7volts, nice and quiet.

go for it.

just remember to check the heatsink clip, the added weight could pull the heatsink off totally flat, the clip may need a very small addtitional bendage to get the right snugness.

just be carefull and use your common sense with the clippage adjustment, i have done it so many times i don't think about it anymore, but if a bit overzealous........................

Thanks, i think i will try getting that fan. And i dont have to worry about the clip, the ALPHA PAL8045 hsf that i have is bolted to my motherboard through the holes around the cpu, not clipped on.. its nice and secure that way! Thanks again!
