I can get the driver to install, by switching the ATI2MTAG file from step 9 in this article, with the ATI2MTAG in the Cat 2.5 file.
I do realize this hack is meant for the 9700 pro, and the cat 3.2 but thats not what I am trying to do.
I am trying to do the opposite almost, to be able to use the cat 2.5 with the R9800 Pro.
now switching the ATI2MTAG file isn't enough.
you also have to switch the C2_08040 from step 30.
you switch that from the 3.2 cat, and switch it with the one in the cat 2.5 file, then just use the Icrontic file to install it like they tried...
then everything works, the cat 2.5 works just fine, but then 2 problems come up.
1. if you install the R9800-Secondary file, the computer goes nuts.
you can install this, then reset, and then enable basic VGA mode and disable the secondary R9800 in device manager, and this seems to fix your PC going nuts.
2. this part I can't fix.
after all this, I can't get the control panel to install properly.
it installs fine, but then you reboot, and it doesn't see any drivers installed to work with.
so the hack is partially complete, I just need some help getting the rest to work.
any volunteers?
;)
