hey guys
ive had this question on my mind for a few weeks now and i was wondering if you could help me out. i have about 240 bucks and i can get a 7900gto (on anandtech fs section for just that amount) i dont like ati so im pretty set on nvidia. now the question is should i get the 7900gto now, or should i wait and get a 7900gtx later. will the prices drop enough to justify me waiting? and what time frame are we talking? any1 know the prices of the dx10 cards and how they are gonna pan out over the next few months? i can wait for about 2 months but nothing really over that. i need css :D really need ur input!
thanks

Personally i think the GTO is a great choice. I got it for $232 back when it first came out (lucky) and it has no trouble with any games out @ 675 and 810.
If you wait a few months, the 8800 series will be a good choice as well. ATI is faster but there is heat and noise. 71 series are actually pretty effective, they just suck with AA and AF turned on. TUrn them off, they are comparable to 1900XTX.

if you wait 2 months, the 8800 series are gonna drop in price, and if buying a new vid card...thats the way to go.

That IS the question every time a new core is coming or released. With g80 on market and R600 upcoming it's a very "bad" time to think in upgrade your card.
I prefer to wait sometime for more options in new generation cards, so you can take an inteligent decision.

That's too bad because for 250 the best card you can get will be the Sapphire X1950XT :(

i hate ati and from most of the reviews ive read (of people who currently own the 7900gto and have owned the x1900, they say the 7900gto is much better). as i said before i dont want an ati card, i really do prefer nvidia. i appreciate all ur input but i think realistically speaking i would have to wait quite a while to get a good dx10 card (8800 or greater) for around 250. ill just turn around and sell the card to some1 in my school later on but to be honest (i most play css) so i dont think i need anything much better. basically i need help on tweaking that card now lol, and i still cant figure out if i should flash it or not (to gtx). any help there? thanks again

I'm curious then...why do you have ATI? Bad past experience?
