To much work, finally I managed some time to do a quick test of a retail QX6700

Since Ricky made me a mini-cascade with VapoLS mounting kit, is real pratical to mount the CPU on it - even more quick than the Tuniq :D

Poor Mini-Cascade (orignal VapoLS + original Promie compressors) the heat of the 4 cores really give the cascade a hard time, the temperatures start to raise really quickly (from -70ºC on idle to -40 or less in load):(

Here is a photo :

First let's find how many MIPS do I have under the hood..

http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/QX6700_4500_SandraCPU82928MIPS.jpg

82 thousand MIPS ..not bad:)

Now the inevitable CineBench

http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/QX6700_4600_CineBench9sec.jpg

9 Seconds ;)

Now let's check how fast can it run 4 SuperPI's in each core..

http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/QX6700_4600_4SuperPI.jpg

Timings really bad since the memory are not optimized by any means..

And finally the CPU Score of 3D Mark2006

http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/QX6700_4500_3DMark2006_6512_CPU.jpg

6.500 :D : almost doubles the X6800 score..eheh

I really need to test this CPU on Ricky's new 3 Stager ..anyway a few more results in the Mini-cascade in the next few days , I think is time for 3D Mark2006 action ;)

looking really good :toast:
you got a pic of the cascade ? (or it's the one in phase section ?)

Love those SuperPI scores, and especially the Vapochill mounting on a cascade. :)

A bridge for SLI and no second card? Either you are wishful, or you forgot their isn't a second card lol. Great results. 4.5GHz quad core is amazing =-o

nice mini-cascade, I love that :D
-70c idle for QX6700 is good !

Here is a result of this QX6700 air cooled - using a Tuniq Tower on the Abit A9WD

http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/QX6700_3900AR_CineBench.jpg

At 1.6v with Enhaced SpeedStep and C0 active (in idle low cpu to 6x and around 1.40v) runs CineBench without any problem at 3.900Mhz, time no to bad 12 sec ;)

Temps are more than aceptable for 24/7 use at this speed :)

That mini-cascade is  ...damm nice work...as usual on Ricky.
That's a fine setup for 24/7 :D

I'm kinda surprised the SuperPi timing isn't lower, a X6800 does those times at 4.5-5GHz, and with twice the cores, I'd think it would do it at least a little bit better ;)

try running it 4 times at once on an x6800 vs the times this gets running it 4 times at once.

nice results.....3D 06 is all QX 6700 1st page ORB/8800 gtx's in sli,
without one is pretty much pointless to even attempt 06...

Great overclock on the QX6700 pedro.

I am trying to stabilize my QX6700 on a P5B Deluxe ATM (can boot into windows but not be Orthos stable) and was surprised to see your multipliers so high.

Do all the 680i boards unlock mulitipliers on Kentsfield up to 15 ?
or only the eVGA?

Yes, really MUCH hotter than the X6800 with same voltage.

This mini-cascade hold very well a X6800 at 4.900 with 1.8v - idle near -88ºc and load around -78ºC .. - with QX6700 a 1.8v load temps reach -40ºC or more.

A much firm contact with evaporator is also needed with QX6700

For double use (X6800 / QX6700) I would say a CPEV to adjust is essential - after finish their 3 stager, I'm gonna ask Ricky to put a CPEV and a better compressor on the 2nd stage on this mini-cascade.

Here is the temperatures with X6800 at 1.84v in the mini-cascade.

http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/TempIgualFluke.jpg

As you can see the evap temperatures measure in the Fluke are exactly the same as the tempeatures measured in EVGA 680i Bios - nice :D

Yes, I think so .. the 680i's even allow higger multi than 15x

I tested my QX6700 on the P5B Deluxe (max multi 12x) and the 965 chipset board allow much more higger FSB than the 680i

Aircooled (Tuniq Tower) my QX6700 in the P5B Deluxe runs Cinebench at 3.900 and is full Orthos stable at around 3.800 Mhz..as you can see in this pic ..

lol, yeh i get the same results @ cine 2003,

1 cpu - 627 @ 42.0
x cpu - 2011 @ 13.1

Kent @ 3604mhz 400x9

wat did u mean by throttling?

eva, would u do cine 9.5?

ouch poor mach2 :( I´d like to see a chiller comparo between a kent and a conroe, somehow I think a chiller will hold temps better than a SS (commercial unit I mean).

But for the heat that your quad-core produces, you can't do much more :(

Drag , don't know what country you are , maybe you found this with google but its totaly wrong.
its my old step 4 kentsfield , the validation is a 500fsb show , and the 22 degrees temp on the dt is showing that the dt200 is modded to get power from the psu, so if you can't read the story with it don't post it somewhere else please.
it will give a wrong impression too people.

new kentsfield in the meanwhile and doing better
to compare with the cinebench score , air cooled
