MX518

There was a big review posted on mice in the news section just the other day. The old MX500 was actually the winner with an o/c usb port but the MX518 the best out of the box.

If I had to pick one now it would be the MX518 for a gaming and daily use mouse, but it isn't as comfortable to hold as my MX1000.

Is there a reason why you only listed Logitech Mice? If those really are the only mice you are able to get, the MX518 is the best in terms of comfort, features and tracking (better than G3 and G5). If you are able to get other mice, however, I have a different suggestion.

what is that suggestion?

A DeathAdder or Diamondback. Currently the best mice on the market and have the best sensors on the market as well. The DeathAdder will be even better than the diamondback and it should be out very very as it is listed as near end of december.

Cordless mice are not for me...

A DeathAdder or Diamondback
and what about Copperhead?
though it's more expensive than MX518 but...

Well, I guess I can be called a "Proffesional Gamer", I just tried the G5 and the Razer Copperhead for the first time a few days ago and I gotta tell you they are gadgety, but they can't give you that feeling which you get with the MX518.
It makes you feel like you are one with the table... It's not as comfortable as a G5, but in games comfortablity won't give you that edge you need.

Try this: Razer Krait (http://www.xsreviews.co.uk/reviews-84-page1.html) - similar to Logitech G3 but the Drivers make the difference ;)

I have a G5, definately a good mouse, however according to reviews an MX518 is better out of the box for gaming etc. Personally though, I don't like the "ergonomic" design of the logitech G5 and MX518 mouse, it's not bad, but kind of bulky for my tastes.

I came from a Microsoft Optical Blue mouse, so anyways, I ended up getting a Razer Diamondback as well. You may like the G3 mouse, someone in my thread commented on it.

I started a thread on laser mice a while back, there's a wealth of information in there if it helps:

Thats one of the worse mice razer made. What about it? The sensor is crap and the sensor on the G3/G5/G7 is also crap.

I received an MX REV for XMAS & will test it but since I have already seen reviews for it stating it only has 800 dpi in comparison to the G5 2,000 dpi and my MX518 1600dpi...I am not all that thrilled about it! Plus being cordless I am not sure if I trust cordless for gaming yet as at one point I tried the MX1000 and still didn't like it more than my MX518.

I am suprised the G5 scored less for tracking than the MX518 but that is ok by me since that is my mouse right now :).

Will check out the review/news section. TY.

if I trust cordless for gaming
as for me i don't like cordless mice because they're heavy. at least that mouse i tested was too heavy because of batteries...

Of course the MX518 is better, optical and infrared are much superior technologies than laser. Laser mice are a marketing gimmick started by logitech, and it worked. If Razer wanted to keep up they had to release a laser mouse as well, even if it wasn't as good as the diamondback. Hence the Copperhead. There is a reason why the new DeathAdder is not laser and it's not to cut costs.
