ok, im building a new comp next month, and was wondering if there is any point spending that much on a mobo
my setup will basically be
e6600
g.skill pc2-6400 (2x1gb) cas4
ocz gamexstream 700w
x-meridian sound card
nzxt lexa classic series case
74gb raptor
320 perp seagate (from old comp, might buy another one though)
nec ad5170 drive (black)
only buying a gainward bliss 7900 gs "golden sample" 256MB gfx card for now as im waiting for the best nvidia dx10 card which will be around come the release of the game 'crysis'
should i get this mobo? or are there better, cheaper alternatives (p5w dh deluxe wifi or dfi infinity 975x) ..
what about nforce 590 (is that out yet?)

I played with a prototype of this board over the weekend and I will say this mobo will be a monster when it comes out next month. The 590 boards are already yesterday's news and are not very overclocking friendly.

is it any better than asus striker 680i?

what about the 'Gigabyte GA_965P_DQ6'
apparently thats the best mobo for overclocking!

Once the bios is 100% and the board is sorted out it should have people saying Asus who? It has a much more OC friendly bios than the eVGA 680i board. We'll just have to gather them all up once this board is released and compare them. This sounds like the a topic for a future review.

I would consider the Corsair XMS2 6400 memory. At $273 (NewEgg) it's hard to beat. I would also consider the X-Fi Extreme Music. At $99 there really isn't a better deal on the market for a great sounding sound card. Why not 2x 74gb raptors in RAID 0? Your level loading times will be much faster with 2. I am also a fan of Plexy optical drives. I have owned one or another for over 12 years and never had one break. The 716SA is a pretty sweet drive. After seeing how blazing fast the 8800GTX is I can't justify not owning one. A single card hits 11,000 in 3D Mark 06 with very little coaxing. SLI pairs should have no problem hitting 17,000. You'll be able to run Crysis with *all* the eye candy turned up to max @ 1600x1200 with 4xAA and 16xAF and still get 60fps!
Anyway. . .just my two cents.

isnt the best 6400 memory the G.Skill one i put in my list? it was the one that beat the super pi record anyway!
nah, i dont care for creative anymore.. and eax i dont even use. the spec of the x-meridian is second to none and apparently music just sounds awesome through it (coupled with new Beyerdynamic DT 770's i'm buying.. i think it will make a nice team :D unless there are better headphones you can get for around the same price... [i will be listening to my bassy dance music, and playing games])
i dont mind about slow loading times on things i dont often use. i will put things like program files on my raptor.. some games i often play, and music i often listen to... other than that other files will be stored and used occasionally on my slave drive/s.
ive heard the same of NEC drives.. that they are very reliable. is there much in it?
as i said.. i only really play counter strike 1.6 and football manager 2007 now, which arent the most graphically intensive games (!), and i will wait for the top cards out at the time of Crysis before making the upgrade purchase. i mean.. if i bought the 8800gtx (sli or not), i wouldnt be making use of them.. then, when Crysis comes out (mid next year or so?) there will be other better cards out, so my ones will already be old, and not as future proof as ones bought a few months down the line! (will also be less weighty for the old bank balance :P)
thx for the advice, and i hope to get more!
