View Full Version : Need native English speakers, help WCG cruncher out
Yes, it me that needs help. I am undergoing a major change in my life, looking for a new life, new challenge, new country to live in and I need to improve some of my texts in English (they are short). The task is pretty simply I think for a native speaker and it shouldn’t take a lot of time. I will think of reward as well :)
PM me or post here and I will PM you more details
Thank you in advance :)

Not to be demanding, but you can start with telling us where you are from and what your native language is. If you are lucky, you will find someone who speaks your language and helps you to translate as well.
And my other tips would be to follow courses, visit websites, find mailings with articles in English and keywords that get translated, watch TV programs in the language, visit countries where they speak it a lot, find friends to chat with, etc.
English is pretty simple to learn, it's not like russian or swahili or even worse.... french (no offence to our french friends, but I've been having trouble learning this language since day one, and that was 15 years ago...)
Actually I'd say my English is pretty good (all - writing, listening, speaking and reading) but you know there are things that only native speaker knows. For example, there is no way I could write stories like Hemingway. OK, I am exaggerating here, you don't needs such writing skills but still. I just need an eye of a native speaker that can say yes, here I'd say like this and there I'd say like that. I hope you know what I mean :)

Okay, here's your first test. See if you can understand these American Rap lyrics.:D
First things first, I poppa, freaks all the honeys
Dummies - playboy bunnies, those wantin’ money
Those the ones I like ‘cause they don’t get nathan’
Heart throb, never, black and ugly as ever
However, I stay coochied down to the socks
Rings and watch filled with rocks

You're da man.:)
I don't want to be offensive in any way but the easiest to understand are white Americans. Then people from UK/Ireland. Black americans are harder to understand because of their accent. Then probably Australia.
Heh, I have a book called American accent training with 4 CDs :D But the best way to learn is to live in an English speaking environment :D

my parents only lived there for about a year, and never picked it up

UK/Ireland since there is no problem with work permit, no problem with language and quite a lot of job opportunities for me :)
I wanted US first but I understood that getting work permit is too hard unless you are a genius :p: or employer wants to wait a few months and go through the hassle of getting that work permit for you :)

We prefer the term "American" rather than English in regards to our language :p: We also like to shop at Wal-Mart and grow out our mullets. I've been to England a few times and I was very suprised with the cultural diversity, so much more diverse than America, or atleast so much more noticeable.

LOL. I was born in PA. Spent most of my formative years in Jersey ( New ).
In between >> Ohio, Ill, WI, and NY.
I landed in Jersey in second grade and was there until I went in the Army and then some more, for a short while after.
Been out in Vegas for a long time now, though.

Lev. Next time your in Ireland give me a shout. I'll show you the wild side. Oh and em will your mum be joining you on your next visit? :) Oh another thing, don't work in McDonalds next time you go away. Am I right in saying you did, or am I dreaming again?
Kiwi- It is a fact that most English speakers who love and know the language will accept that the best Enghlish speakers and users of the Language in a contempory setting are well eduacated people who reside in Ireland. My spelling isn't all the best on the forums here... cos I'm lazy and time is a restriction. But if you need anything proof read, PM me.
Never mind the American English. That is a lazy English, where people have lost all connection with the finesse of the language. Just ask Movieman what a tyre is? ;) Or what a metre is. Centre. Neighbours. Colour.

I don't understand a lot of rap lyrics. But I hear them every day on the way to work. It's hard not to notice the lyrics when the car next to you is playing music at 500 decibels.
My wife told me a funny story. She was at a stop light and a car pulled up in the next lane, playing loud rap music. She made the mistake of looking that way. The two guys in the car gave her a hard look. Realizing she could be in trouble, she started bobbing her head like she was enjoying the music. They started bobbing their heads too and drove away. lol

I think he is talking about the 'optimisation' context here ;)
The term American to describe US Citizens is jingoistic. Americans covers anyone living and born on the Americas... Spanish, French, Portuguese, Dutch, ameroindians of all sorts and yes you Gringoids and English speaking Canadians :p:
