What do you think of this new kingston 9600 1.2ghz? Worth 525? I pre-ordered a 2gb kit. expected on the 12th.

I think it doesn`t worth this money :)
As OCFX said, you can get another cheaper kit and OC it to the same freq or for $400 get sth handpicked ;)

bloody expencive....
How much perfromance boost can it offer over DDR2-800?
OCZ PC-6400 2x1024MB EL Gold, $216 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227030&ATT=20-227-030&CMP=OTC-d3alt1me)

It's worth it based on 2 criteria: if you have the money to spend, and if you need to extra fsb for a low multi cpu.

So, it's not worth it to me, because i have neither! Good luck with it.

Probably from 5-10% performance difference but those are made for larger headroom while overclocking

What about using a RAM divider?

That is one thing I can't justify spending that much money on. I always get the fancy kits of the standard speeds and if they overclock at all, I consider it a blessing to help me when overclocking the processor.

Dividers are my friend.

Yes using dividers will save you lots of money but high end kits will give you higher flexibility
@gOJDO

It'll be cool when DDR2 finally hits its wall of bandwidth vs. volts and people who payed $500 for high binned DDR2 will be kicking themselves as cheaper, more efficient DDR3 becomes mainstream. Just buy some G. Skill.

I dont think people paying $500 for ram are looking for the best deal.
