I had a guy give me a 30# can of this today and i am unsure of what to expect from it, i looked up r114 and it has a BP of 4 @ atmospheric pressure.
It is a 60/40 r12/r114 blend, just wondering if anyone has run into this before and what i may hope to expect from it.

A world of fines and more depending on your country
r290/r404/507 402a will perform much better.
r12 has been banned in alot of places, it doesnt get that cold but was a great refrigerant for car aircons and domestic fridges etc

Yeah, i did a little bit of reading up on it, appears to have been labeled as r400 and has a BP of -23.
As to the fines and much more i dont belive they have banned r12 in the US yet, it is just a general practice not to use it anymore.
A Fact that kinda surprised me is that both r12 and r114 were EXTREMELY high on the ODP Scale. Looks like i'll have to dispose of this can, as it is no good to anyone.

While R12 is phased out of new refrigerant production and being used in new equipment, existing supplies and recovered and recycled refrigerant may still be used by certified technicians to service old equipment until the the supply runs out. The cost of R12 has motivated most to upgrade their equipment, but those still using r12 equipment,it will eventually wear out and need replaced. the price of R12 skyrocketed righter the production stop, but lately the price has fallen since the demand has greatly fallen.
That said:The EPA is cracking down on jobbers and individuals who sell R-12 to non certified users. In Maryland, the EPA fined one man $15,180 for selling R-12 to an uncertified customer! That is an expensive mistake to make.
Of course this only applies to signatories of the Montreal protocol, I'm sure some countries that are not signatories may still produce it and other cfc's.But if there is no demand this will also eventually stop.

Yes it told me that r114 wasnt for low temperature refrigeration. However it did not tell me how the r12/r114 blend behaved at that precised mixture, after spending a few hours looking things up and cross referencing material i now have enough facts to make an educated decisin about this blend.
I am sorry wdrzal if i upset you by asking a question that i found no record of ever having been asked here before.
