I have always had problems with Linksys. I find Belkin to be a very good brand.

My initial results with the integrated wifi are very good. I can connect to my WAP even if the anntenae isnt connected(keep in mind this is inside the house, different rooms).

this is for downloading and ping times.

This equivals to throughput(bandwidth) and latency. Both of which will always be more poor with wifi than wired. Really not a whole lot you can do about it. A goot router+WAP helps, but only so much.

I can't bear to play games over wifi, especially FPS's; however, its perfect for everything else.

Based on the fact that the Linksys only claims to be able to do WEP encryption at least (which is effectively the same as no encryption), I'm going to say go with your onboard solution (which I'm just going to assume is WPA2 w/ AES compatable due to the fact that it's newer).

I got the speed to Quadruple with the onboard WiFi by simply using windows to only install the device driver and use windows network manager to connect and stuff(now I download at 200K on a 1.5mb DSL connection:)).
