I'm helping a friend build a computer and the system won't boot. It gives repeating long beeps (memory error). Specs are:

ECS nForce4 M-A v1.1 (it was free)
2GB (2x1GB) OCZ DDR2-800 (5-5-5-12 timings)
AMD A64 X2 4600+
ATI Radeon x850XT

The video card has been tested in another machine, but we have no machines we can use for testing the processor/ram.

Seeing as the beeps indicate a RAM problem, I've tried every combination I could think of in the different slots. I've tried each one separately in each slot. I've tried both of them in, in different sets of slots. The RAM is brand new, and my guess is it's not that.

It actually sounds to me like the motherboard might just not like the RAM. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do if we don't have another mobo/cpu/ram to test with?

if I were to guess I would say motherboard.
First make sure the 4 Pin is properly plugged in and then just to be sure get something like this

You have to use 1.8 volt ram, period. I have heard people getting by with 1.9 v RAM.
