B2 stepping seems to have more tiny chips :p: gosh what do you call them ? and shows up as a conroe :confused:

Yep. All Allendales until this moment was only cache-castrated Conroes, now this are the real Allendales. :)
Maybe they will clock better, because of less temperature, but we will see!

with the missing chokes and such on the back of the cpu... you all know, or most of us know what that means..
lower overclocks.
unless if it infact is a true Allendale core, they may not need that many to produce the same clocks.
i kind of doubt it though. less caps = lower clocks or less stability at higher clocks.

Well you cant blame intel for that. They are probaly pissed that their low end E6300 was getting massive overclocks and that was decreasing the sales of their higher end parts.

Lol, I'm not going to stop you. But you have proved that the E6300 can be made faster then their flagship product pretty easily. The 99.5% overclock is one of the many reasons Intel is crippling their cpus :(

Does this mean that all the new chips that Intel are going to be putting out will be of this stepping BTW, Cos im about to buy my new rig, using a 6300/6400, and don't really want a crippled chip if you know what I mean:D
Oh and BTW, are all low end chips going to be replaced, or just the 6300's?
Last thing, are these new steppings going to be replacing the old, or just being sold as well as:)?

Wait until someone gets thier hands on one before you judge.
Typically intel improves thier cpu's with new steppings, so either this is real allendale or it overclocks better imo. But who know maybe they did handicapp it, that would surprise me though as intel has never done that.

They are the ones who brought in locked multipliers. If thats not handicapping cpu overclocking I dont know what is :p:

My guess why they got rid of extra caps is due to the smaller cache. Would make some sense.

They locked multipliers to stop fraud. Understandably too, PC resellers selling a low end chip as a high end chip because they changed the multiplier.

Hmm no I don't. Every intel cpu i have ever seen the new one clocks better then the older one. Northwood cores were most certainly like this, remember the late SLXXX steppings? Remember the 30 cap cpus that came out towards the end of it's lifespan. Conroe LXXXB's usually clock bettert then LXXXA's.
Usually you can tell when intel is about to introduce a new part as the current ones start clocking much better. then they make the jump. Example when the 1.6a cpu's started hitting 2.4ghz with ease, thats when the 2.533ghz northwood came out. When those kept hitting 3ghz, bam northwood C.
Like i said, we can't know for sure, but it would not be like intel, IMO.

you look at Dothan air results..................you have to get 780 for best overclocks..........why? binning..... heh...
