Version 1.1 Available Now! MBM5 Update 3 Available Now!
Core(TM) Temperature Monitor Plugin for Motherboard Monitor 5
Distributed under license by The Tech Repository (www.thetechrepository.com).
Copyright (C) 2006 freecableguy (FCG). All Rights Reserved.
Monitor actual Core(TM) (DTS) temperatures directly from MBM5!
Supports Yonah, Conroe/Allendale/Woodcrest/Merom, and Kentsfield/Clovertown.
This plugin for MBM5 allows the user to simultaneously monitor up to 16 cores using Intel Core(TM) technology. All sensor update intervals, logging options, alarm settings, and display characteristics can be set through the popular MBM5 interface to be displayed along-side all other motherboard and video card temperatures/data. Free for use, free for distibution. Easy to setup and a great aid to overclockers and enthusiasts alike. Download version 1.1 now!
Motherboard Monitor 5 Update 3 is available for download exclusively from The Tech Repository! This update is cumulative and does not require any other updates to be installed prior to patching. This update correct a general incompatability between version 1.0 of the Core(TM) Temp plugin and the CPU usage display setting that resulted in incorrect temperatures for one or more cores.

Version History:
---------------------------------------------------------------
12/02/2006 - 1.0 - initial release, coreplugin.dll v1.0.0.0010, coretemp.sys v1.0.0.0005
12/10/2006 - 1.1 - coreplugin.dll v1.0.0.0036, coretemp.sys v1.0.0.0006
- Corrected bug where some quad-core processors would display core temperatures 15C too low as a results of incorrect Tjunction calculation.
- Added support for internal display and calculation of CPU usage. Native MBM5 CPU usage support is disabled when the plugin is loaded when using MBM5 Update 3.
- Increased maximum core support to 16 cores.
- Changed default sensor numbers so that cores temperatures shown in the system tray can be read in order from left to right starting with 'Core 0'.

I think it would be cool to be able to calibrate this temperature with a nice Fluke thermo or etc, because these bad onboard sensor readings are driving me crazy:slapass:

the plugin reports what the CPU reports. no program will correct what appears to be a hardware limitation.
ALSO, I need anyone interested to please email me so that I can reply with the files attached. This will not be an open beta test at this time. I will not be posting the files for download until ready for release.

no there is no updated MBM, but i Might work on any newer board, it all depends what monitoring chip is used, only thing is that it probably has to be adjusted to show right values and it takes some time figuring out what values are witch, when i set it up for P5BDlx i had to adjust all voltages, like 12v rail was showing 3v

my plugin has absolutely nothing to do with dashboard display. make sure you have expanded the dashboard enough for it to show (or it could be UNDER one of the other tiles - check it out). those temperatures are wild. run Core Temp on your system and see what it reports. Also, please tell me what OS you are running (with what SP) and your CPU type.

that's definately good to know. the strange thing is that the code has nothing to do with load or cooling or anything. the driver simply retrieves the data and passes it to the plugin which passes it to MBM5. What exact does the 8x read say? if its greater than 85 then something is definately wrong as 85 is the max that should be reportable (anything greater would mean that the DTS sensor is a negative number...)

It changes between 83 - 85°C. CoreTemp reports 21°C for this Core.
Edit: Sometimes the temperature in task switches to the correct 21°C. Maybe one time in 5 minutes, but then it goes back to the 85°C. Anyway, thanks for ur effort, i'm at work now, be back in a few hours. :)

If the temps are rising a bit, it seems to work, so there must be some kind of a barrier on 20-21°C for one core?! Now on 23/27°C and it is working flawless. :)

It's gone back to reading both Core No. 2 (CPU 1) temps now
So, let me make sure that I understand this. It was correctly updating the temperatures for both cores....and they were two distinct values. And then it just changed over to only displaying temps for one core on both sensors? Did you change ANYTHING? Reboot? Does it revert? Did you open another program that may be accessing the same registers? This is my most elusive "bug" although I'm not sure if I can do anything the fix this (although I really hope these is some explaination to it).

The highest supported number is Sensor 32. So if I want at least 8 contiguous sensors (really, 16 in case someone decides to get cute and run a quad Clovertown setup) that I would need to go, say, Sensor 9 through Sensor 24. I don't think anyone uses Sensor 9 now so that should be safe. I will include this change in the next build that I send you, Larry.

- for P5B Dlx choosing the P4P800 config results in core temps dropping to 0 once in a while (to me it seemed whenever a core goes from idle to load) choosing P4C800-Deluxe resolves that, im going to post a config file but im typing this so ppl that are not using P5Bdlx are aware, and to know how to fix it on their mobos if possible
- cpu usage monitor in MBM causes both cores to show one temperature in my case it was core #1 temp for both, i dont know if you can fix that FCG, but its really usefull to have both....if it isn't possible to fix im probably gonna run cpu usage "on" with only one core showing, it really usefull when going through loggs to see what was happening and both my load temps are the same so it doesnt make to much difference, at least to me

The discovery of the problem with the CPU usage may be a BIG help in resolving the problem with both cores showing the same temps. I will explore this.
Since everyone wants to change the labels to their own choice I will remove the auto-setting of this. Just set it yourself to whatever you want! :)

Alex and I have located what we believe is the bug in the current version of MBM5 and are now working on finding a way to work around it. Exactly why the problem is occuring is quite unknown which makes the solution all that more elusive. We will have something out soon though. I hope to offer the download for MBM5 Update 3 along with the plugin so that everyone can monitor their core temperatures as well as CPU usage.

Known issues: (only one at this time)
YOU CANNOT monitor CPU Usage using the MBM5 option right now and use the core temperature plugin at the same time. You must disable this option in MBM5 and restart MBM5 in order for core temps to read correctly. I am working on the fix right now.
Sensor names are NOT set automatically anymore. You can set them yourself now. (Users said that they wanted to set them themselved to their liking.) Sensor 9 is 'CORE 0', Sensor 10 is 'CORE 1' and so on...

Rig is in my sig. Fresh OS install. MBM 5370 installed with no other plug in's. I'd like to install the ASUS P5B Deluxe fix to display my voltages properly though?? I installled the NV GPU plug in after the core temp deal failed and that worked just fine..... GPU core was 450 as it should have been, GPU memory showed 660mhz opposed to the 1320 that is it.... I figure thats x2 cause its DDR memory.
I just can't get the core temp plug-in to work!
MBM is now uninstalled via add/remove programs... I deleted the MBM5 folder from program files and coretemp from windows/system32/driver folder.

ok here is what I did.
mm5 3.7.0 (original mm5)
mm5 3.7.0_3 (mm5 update 3)
coretemp 1.1
p5b data file
(I don't have a nvidia card so you are on your own with that)
follow the steps for each of the above packages and you should be golden.
Where's the coretemp v1.1?? All I see is v1.0 on the first page of this thread.
I assume update 3 is on the MBM 5 site??

Yup.......both on 24 & 23 sensors and set as custom.
Starts OK....then just sets to zero within 2 secs??....and for some reason its labeled them GPU2 ambient & GPU2 core??

I think we have a conflict.......
The Nvidia plug-in is using sensors as below......
[SensorNumbers]
sensorsGpu1TempsAmb=26
sensorsGpu1TempsCore=25
sensorsGpu2TempsAmb=24
sensorsGpu2TempsCore=23
sensorsGpuClocksCore=22
sensorsGpuClocksMem=21
**EDIT**
Yup......stopping the Nvidia plug-in results in the cores working fine!.......so its a conflict between sensors.

Looks like those are user configurable....set them to anything outside of the 24 & 23 range (and anything else being used) so that the Core Temp plugin can use 24 and 23.

Nope!
Entered various values and it makes no difference......it still defaults to the above.....must be written in the DLL itself?

P5WDH - BIOS: 1705
- Both MBM Update 3 and Core Plugin v1.1 installed
- four instances of "HEAT" loaded (quick 3min test)
- close agreement with CoreTemp v0.94 (most likely a sampling lag, than accuracy problem)

Any reason as to why the plugin sensors were changed?
Just means we can only use one or the other now because of conflict :(
Nvidia plugin = no core values?

All I have to say is thankyou Freecableguy. At the pcper chaintech forum we have used the program for a long time.
A few of us moved over to the DS3 which is a nice board but MBM5 was a no go! You've changed that and we appreciate it!
One thing still isn't working for us, 12v reading? Anyway of getting this fixed or a know setting?
Again thank you! :)

I've noticed MBM has a little more delay than Core Temp or even ASUS PC Probe. Make sure your monitoring interval is set as low as possible in MBM- mine is 1 second, but it still lags a little. I think you can change that setting under the General tab on the Setting display.

nice so this program actually shows accurate temps for core 2 duo like TAT? Ill try it out when I get home. Sitting in the PC lab waiting for my next exam (actually, its not even an exam, but I still have to wait over 3 hours for a class that will last several minutes :( )
Sorry that I dont have time to read whole thread trough :(
..but can someone tell me why MBM5 doesn't work with my P5B Dlx, E6600 and WinXP + SP2?

As can be seen, the plugin doesn't show the temparature while running very cold conditions.
Is it fixable?

there are no mobo specifis plug ins.....the plugin is for all c2d cpus and works on all mobos.....for mobo support instal mbm and choose diferend asus mobos from the configuration list to see what config gives you most information, although you will probably need to edit the config after that

Ok I'll give it another look. I thought the original guy had ceased development so it wasnt that easy for anything conroe related. I realise this plugin works off the cpu itself though :)
Millyons
02-13-2007, 01:36 AM
with all the new boards you just have to try it.....yes development was ceased couple years ago but the mobos still mostly use same monitoring chips and that is whats most important, check what chip is it (winbond, itc, etc) and try to find the same one in the mobo config page...or in the .inis .... i might just write a small guide on how to get it working....

This is driving me friggin nuts here!!''
I installed all per instructions and got readings from CPU, GPU and MB fine and dandy in my HP nx9420 lappy..(2c off on CPU but ok).
After i opted for IDE and SCSI hd readings in MB I rebooted and all sensor choices simply dissapeared in the drop down list...nothing there except the hd sensor that now have been included.
Now, I have tried EVERYTHING to get those readings back!!
I have uninstalled the MBM and plugin a few times, cleaned registry, flashed bios, and searched high and low for resident files from the MBM and plugin installs.....still no sensors even showing up!!
I have started and stopped the plugin a zillion times, still nothing...
I do have readings in Everest Ultimate...so sensors are still kicking.
Where in *""#¤¤%#¤%#& are those settings/conf-files that I can't find!!!
It must be related to the invokment of those IDE and SCSI hd sensor readings I opted for..
Please, anyone!!:mad:
EDIT:
After reinstalling XP I still cannot get the sensors to show up in the scroll-list.
The sensors are still working in all other apps like speedfan and Everest....how is this possible...I'm baffled!! :confused:
FCG ..where art thou??
EDIT2:
I have now installed Vista as well, and I still cannot get the sensors to show up in the drop-down list...but ALL other monitor software works..:rolleyes:
Now, this is really torturing me...how in heavens can MBM/coretemp do something to my hardware that makes the sensors to dissapear ONLY for MBM/coretemp..!?!?

What is this some kind of joke? The installation of this "update" is so retarded, it must be intentional. There is no reason to manually insert all these bizarre files all over the computer. But the last laugh is on the fools who perpetrated this joke, I erased all that junk and will never use MBM again. It was always lousy program and still is. There are many, many other programs which are far superior and are designed by professionals.
This is an obvious hoax and the Forum Moderators should lock or delete this topic immediately. They shouldn't be allowed to promote their trash on these forums.

Hi Folks,
I wanted to give a big thanks for the work you all have done:clap:

Quick question, Is there any word on the 680i compatability?

Howdy Guys,
I've been looking for system monitoring to put on my desktop and I think I'm going to give this a shot.
Here's my specs:
ASUS P5W-DH Deluxe Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 CPU
ASUS ATI Radeon X1950PRO GPU
Windows Vista Ultimate
I know that this motherboard is supported because I've seen screenshots from people using this motherboard. I'm sure the CPU is supported as well. I'll try to give the Installation & Configuration a shot.
I was looking at other people's screens and this is what I'm hoping to achieve (This is someone else's of course) :
http://www.rahulsjohari.com/ebay/mbm.jpg
But I would like to also add some GPU values - like temperature, fan etc. Is that possible? Can I add anything of my Radeon X1950PRO to this?
Thanks.
