after getting my ass handed to me, when I tried to update my P5N32-E SLI to the 0302 bios out from Asus, I was met with a fatal flaw of any bios update... the never boots again part...

well, somewhere among the hardware gods, they were kind and gave me my board back.

after 3 days of absolute hell dealing with Asus... which are by the way, the absolute worst help I have ever heard from. literally ignore half the stuff you say, then talk to you like you 4 years old "have you tried clearing the CMOS? yes? are you sure? can you do it again?".

somewhere.... some how... the ghost of my board returned, and revived.

I removed the battery for a hour maybe, had everything removed from the board. hooked it back up... powerd on... and it finally booted.
apparantly this is common.... boards that just kinda come back to life for no reason. cause I heard atleast 4 other people tell me the same thing happend for them...

anyways... the results from 0102 bios, to 0302 bios.

Raised Vcore from 1.6 volts (1.47 real volts) to 1.9 (1.79 volts real)

Added TRfc, range from 1 to 149.

OC ability went up just a tiny bit, from 525 FSB tops bootable, to 531 tops bootable.

Added Link Boost.

These are some very good news. :)
First about the revival of your board and second for the added vcore and trfc.

The advantage of Dual Bios with Gigabyte motherboards.

why dont the mobo manufacturers just include a "bios savior" like chip on the mobo..they charge enough

Ah I swore off this board after reading it only had 1.6v in bios. Might have to order one now because my P5W DH is...well...crap in the FSB department.

The advantage of Dual Bios with Gigabyte motherboards.

I don't see why all of these enthusiast boards makers don't do that... wow.

only problem I see is I have no floppy drive..so need winfalsh...thus a big issue on this mobo to get newest bios but it does look good...maybe I could use a thumb drive

Could someone with the P5N32-E SLI manual see if there's anything about using a USB flash drive to flash the BIOS? I sure wish ASUS would put up the pdf version of the manual.

Good news. I had ordered mine about 2 weeks ago from someone on ebay that later told me he sold too many and had to wait on another shipment :( It went out UPS yesterday. I can get off this Intel classic MB with absolutely no voltage, FSB or memory adjustments (and no software works either).

I really prefer USB flash drives. Hopefully they do something to map it to A: because OS installations assume this and don't give you another option for controller drivers.

Understand that the majority of the people doing tech support know less than 90% of the people here.

FSB looks great. I hit a wall before 400 on my P5WDH. Now that I'm downgrading to a 6600 instead of a 6700 I'm going to need it. I'll surpass my old chip when chilled if I get at least 454. And only 377 to pass my old 24/7 settings.

What does that plug into and how would someone find out if it work on any specific board?

i used it on DFI NF3/NF4 motherboards it plugs into the bios socket and allows you to save and work from a back up of the bios leaving the original bios untouched and you switch between backup and original bios

http://www.fileshosts.com/DFI/NF4_SLI_D/web2/NF4_033.JPG

it only holds 4MB bios so if the 680i bios is larger probably won't work

not sure if they're sold/made anymore http://www.ioss.com.tw/web/English/RD1BIOSSavior/SelectionChart/PLCCTYPE/RD1PMC4.html or if they work on 680i boards...

Hopefully the missing caps are not for stability. Along with bling the board lacks eSATA along with a few other things that might be using those caps.

So Where can I buy a new BIOS chip for one of these boards?

That is to say if anyone hasa BIOS Saviour and this board would they be willng to make me a BIOS chip and ship to UK?

I have a board and am almost certain the chip I have is knackered.

Cheers
