I have never built a small comp before i.e.sff/shuttle/barebone and am looking for help picking parts to build one for a friend, it must be cool and quite (rules out p4) and must be quite cheap (rules out Conroe) the total budget is £450~£500 and he wants is to support high def through his plasma and have audio out to his amp.
Parts will be bought in the uk

Many thanks for looking and all info and help is greatly appreciated

Mobo wise you probably want to go S939 the rather than AM2 so something like an MSI K8NGM2-FID.

have a look at http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/HTPC_Shop.html & drop them a line.
They may not be the cheapest but their knowledge/service is worth it.
