Go for the Opty 165, should hit 2.8 with a decent stepping........got mine from newegg with a good stepping, and went right to 2.8 easily.

The OPTERON is 939

The AM2 is 940

two different stocks.

This is an out of place comment. None the less when P4 was the thing for INTEL, I didn't have a problem spanking INTEL people with my AMD. Yet, you won't have credit for your behaviour. It's just simple revenge on your part and you won't gain anything from this.

For the owners of the 939 socket, I'd say just don't bother with AM2 and get an Opteron 165 or 170, 175... They are the last call for S939 and then just wait for AM2+ or AM3.

I will wait for AM3 and quad-cores before my next upgrade. my opterons are doing just fine running at 3.1GHz.

I think that's what he was trying to say. Notice his location.
