Hi. Im having problems picking which motherboard I would like. My friends have been telling me either the Asus A8n32-sli Deluxe or the DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert. The Asus looks nicer so im more interested in that one. But my main concern is which motherboard is better for overclocking.
Plan to get:
AMD Opteron 146 s939
Crucial Ballistix 1GB PC4000 (2x 512MB)
and one of those Mobos.
Please help

I would get the DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert or the non-SLI version if you are not going to have a SLI system. Really nice and stable board(s).
If you are planning on GETTING a CPU, RAM and a MOBO, consider Core 2 Duo. No, not just consider, it's a must! s939 is almost forgotten now. If you don't want Intel, even though it kicks ass now, at least think about AM2. It will support K8L next year.

At the Moment there is no real reason to get AM2. At least not for me. Intel kicks ass right now, thats right also because it´s so cheap. But till K8L next year there will another socket for AMD i think.

There is a DFI Mobo for AM2 aswell: DFI LANparty UT NF590 SLI-M2R/G
But you should think about getting AM2 right now. I would rather get the DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert, Athlon X2 3800+, 1GB or 2GB Crucial Ballistix. AM2 just supports DDR2 Rams and till the new socket comes out s939 will still be very good. But if you would get AM2 now, you could use you CPU, Rams also still in the future on the new AMD boards, as far as is read.

ahh i see. if it still would work with the new stuff when they come. they i suppose i should upgrade to am2 instead of 939

Guys, he suggested a better overclocking board, not a whole new system. Any of the DFI Lanparties should fit you well, raklyiz.

thanks nicks. but yeah ive been debating about 939 and am2. i was going to get 939 because i thoguth that am2 wouldnt be compatable with the new stuff what pipi said
so anyway. ive narrowed it down with am2
processor
am2 x2 3800+ or a 4200+
mobo
Asus(m2n32-sli, m2n-sli), Abit(fatality? an9, kn9), or Lanparty(UT NF590 SLI-M2R/G)?

The Lanparty UT NF590 or the Infinity NF UltraII-M2 are both good choices by DFI. The ASUS ones have some issues, and the Abit ones aren't too good either.
Bear in mind you'll need DDR2 ram for this, and buying that atm is a kick in the balls. If you have good DDR, I reccomend sticking with s939.

Some people report serious problems between Asus and OCZ, especially on AM2. Unless more knowledgeable people here say otherwise I would go with some different RAM. I think this stuff looks good but I dont know the companies reputation. It seems to be pretty cheap DDR2-1000 ram though and it would be work alot better for overclocking than that DDR2-800 stuff.

another vote for the dfi am2 590 board.im a fan of asus but the new dfi 590 board is a fine board.the layout is perfect and it likes ocz ram.you also have the option of doing very high o/clocks if the mood arises.just look at the board, its a work of art, beautiful to look at and its performance is great and gets better with each bios release.as a true blue asus guy for my personal build i cant see how i can pass up the dfi board this time around.look at it and read some reviews and you will be sold.no doubt the asus board is good just the dfi leaves you with alot more options.
