View Full Version : normal temp for e6600?
I just got this proc with ecs p4m800 v2 mobo and the temp is pretty high... nearly 50C on full load. I'm using thermaltake cl-p0071 with an antec quiet low speed 120mm fan: http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggImage/productimage/35-106-056-01.JPG
I'm using speedfan to monitor temp. What should the normal cpu temp be? Also, is the temperature being measure inside the IHS or is it on the mobo? I heard that new proc have integrated thermal stat.

you should check your temps with coretemp, everest or with the intel thermal analysis tool.
I used to check my temps with speedfan, but this is more accurate.

If that is either overclocked or stock speed that is pretty normal temps, actually very low if overclocked. My E6600 with Scythe Infinity is running 57-58 with Orthos beta running at 378 bus 3.4GHz CPU speed. Idle is in the high 30c to low 40c range depending on room temp and I've lapped the CPU and the heatsink and the case side is off.

50 at full load is very nice...Good job !!!:toast: No lapping needed.

newest speedfan gets me the exact same numbers as coretemp.
Got coretemp and the temp is like 35C on load! I think I'll stop at 50C when I overclock.
