I'd prefer the P5B-E than the S3/DS3.
Argument=
The P5B series has proven itself as a good overclocker.

as of now, without the DS3's F8 BIOS ... Yes, the P5B is the choice

what will the F8 bios do?

anyone?
The F8 bios fixes some serious overclocking issues related to Micron D9 ram. FWIW, I am using the S3 board, essentially a cheaper version of the DS3, with the DS3 F8i bios and I can achieve 520FSB+. My ram craps out after that. No special mods. And I have option up to 2.5vdimm as opposed to the P5B-E (newer revision might be higher) with it's 2.2vdimm max. Both boards are good boards for OCing to be honest.

your gonna get an average of 425-450FSB on the P5B-E stock, assuming you have ram, cpu, and cooling that is up to the task

Lets see I have ram that is capable of 500FSB, but what limits you is that the board limits you to 2.1. I haven' seen any ram that is PC2-6400 that can hit 500fsb on 2.1 or less.

2.1!?

ds3 is a smart choice. u can go upto 2.4v
but aside from that i love mine. clears 500fsb easy :)

no its not 2.1, I just use the board, and didn't notice it went higher when I hit a brick wall :). Yes thats the main reason for the revisions. 2.1 on the 1.01g 2.4 on the 1.02g.

Check my sig, I've had 2 kits of Crucial 533 10th ann. that did DDR 500 @ 2.1v. Also the current kit of OCZ 8500 running ddr 1000+ @ 2.1v. 2.1v is more than enough to run DDR 500, in fact my OCZs have been up to 1040 @ 2.1v memtest stable.
The P5B-E rocks. I've primed up to 516 x 5 without a problem. I would like to see if a S3 would be able to deliver the same OC with my chip.
