Hello,
I'm back to give some testing results with any Asus motherboard once again :D
Today i've got 4 P5Be-plus to compare, i was curious to see if there was a big difference between them, so i've tested them with a great 6600 (only) for FSB testing.
3 Of them was absolutely the same or i'm cpu (FSB) limited, only one stopped at 585 max screen.
Here was the results tested successfully with 3 of those, booted at 590 FSB from bios:

Unfortunately no 600+ for the moment :/ really strange, i can hit 595 with -30° cpu but with -65° it's not better ....
BTW : no special straps apparently, results are normal, not as strange than some 600+ posted some times ago.

FSB is not so great, 600 was passed for while, but stability is impressive.
566 was easy on air i've not tested more.
I'm really impressed by the homogeneity of the 4 boards, i thought find more differences.

Check with Cpu-Z in motherboard section.

So it's not visible from the outside? Like "rev. C2" printed near the chipset?

Will the P5B-E plus board work with the ordunary 4 pin 12 V connector or will it need the 8 pin, I have a hiper 480 watt version 2.2 but it only has 4 pin, many thanks.

Nice results. Im rather sure most P5B dlx @ E boards wil do 550 easy. Its the cpu that makes the difference. Low temps certainly help max fsb, 595 on E6600 is very nice

My P5B dlx runs fine with 4 pins connected.

4 pins is enough.

Thanks for the replies, that saves me a few ££, I am hoping to get the board next week just waiting for confirmation that they can get me one in the UK.

No, i don't think that there is a different strap.
Sad thing my p5b-dlx C1 just die while folding@home today :/ , so i can't compare.
Vmch was at 1.45 or 1.55 , 1.65 was not as good, but cooling was passive :D
Edit : Oh no :) my C1 Dlx is alive, i will compare C1 and C2 with 1m and 32M tomorrow.

time to decide..
is there any reason to choose the p5b-e plus over the dexlue if you dont consider the cost diff?
TaPaKaH
11-26-2006, 10:27 AM
I think that there is no big diff between C1 and C2 ASUS.
For 24/7 use 500-520MHz that both will do will be plenty, and under Xtreme cooling - both are about the same (IMO)

based on what? I will be buying a P5B-E Plus soon and I'll compare it to the P5B-Dlx
TaPaKaH
11-27-2006, 12:01 AM
well, anyway 500MHz that both can do 24/7 will be enough for any CPU ...
and if you want to OC a bit - you "ran out of CPU freq" first ;)
(both P5B-Del and P5B-E can do ~550-570MHz on air - average)
misteroadster
11-27-2006, 12:39 AM
570Mhz isn't enough to catch any WR :D

Vcore Drop is ~ the same , but vcore 1.7v is ~1.57v real on p5be+ , 1.63v on p5bdlx.

Hi, just got my P5B-e Plus bios 0304, c2 chipset ATI radeon 1600, corsair value select 1 gb 5300, cd 6300, raptor drives raid 0, booted first time and ran OK, so started to set things manually, memory first, changed to 667, 5 5 5 15, pressed F10 system shut down and then rebooted, what's wrong ? I have read other boards did this but I thought it was sorted, or is it user error, I am new to Intel and any sort of overclocking :help:

Yup, mine is Rev 1.01G too and a freaking C1 also. But who cares, I am using value ram with a x8 multiplier on E6600. :D
Dumb questions.
1) Are you all just lowering your multi's and increasing fsb for benching purposes to see how high you can get your fsb's? Or is overall performance significantly increased when running E6600 at 3.2Ghz with 6 multi x 533 fsb as opposed to running 3.2Ghz at stock 9 multi x 356 fsb???
2) Are you running at these insane fsb's 24x7???
I was under the impression that fsb didn't make much difference in these new Intel boards...whereas max CPU freq is where the major performance gains are (regardless of fsb).

My answer to both your questions above: Not me for sure! Sometime, I really wonder if "Xtreme" here means optimisation or sub-optimisation!
