So this board is really expensive and still only does 450Mhz FSB. Fark that. Count me in for RD600

It's the same eVGA 680i. This mobo will choose cpu to over FSB 500+, but not of all cpu can run FSB 500+.
Maybe Bios has some problems now.

Taiwan's price 310~320 USD. I have no idea about USA's price.

What is the cost? And is 450 max fsb?

NCIX is selling for $400 CND
I hope Asus get's off their ass and does something about the P5W and P5B bios and doesn't just abandon them.

Andre could you please tell me about the vdroop on this motherboard? Im currently testing the evga 680i sli and so far it seems that i need a lot more vcore than on my old p5b and p5w64.

Andre, can you test something for me?
the NB Voltage, does the striker go above 1.65 volts and still boot?
I have the little brother of this board and am just learning the quicks of this board so far, and the 1 thing thats the most odd, is that theres up to 2.75 volts for the NB voltage, but nothing above 1.6 volts works.

1.65V is still bot, but 32M is not stable. 1.6V worked perfect.

450 is not max. I don't know why 680i is choosy for cpu.

Unfortunately that seems to be asus style lately, making quantity boards NOT quality. I used to like Asus but their pos effort on the P5W pissed me off. I'm really hoping Abit can come through with their 680i version.

680i only for SLI using.
If you still use single card, I recommend that you go to buy 965 or 975 mobos.

damn that sucks, i noticed your 12v line is hurting pretty bad too..asus should just add vdroop as one of its feature, they seem to like to do it the best..

andre.
try this.
this board is definatly complicated and has a big learning curve, for me to get 500+ outta the board, took me about a hour of one setting after the other, trial and error.
try this though...
unlinked.
2000 mhz.
ram.
800 mhz. (easiest... try higher if this works)
set your NB Volts to 1.55.
set your CPU HTT volts to 1.55.
set your Vcore to whatever it takes your CPU to do 3.5 ghz.
set SB volts to 1.65.
set HT volts to 1.45.
set LDT to 3x.
set Vdimm and Cas to easy speeds, not OC speeds.
do not leave TRC to manual, try 20 first, and then work your way down.
save this to your spare OC Profile.
if it doesnt work try to modify the settings alittle.
getting 500 from the board isnt hard, it just takes alittle figuring out what voltage does what.
like for me, the CPU HTT and 1.2 VHT volts are the most important so far.
SB volts just seem to keep the videocard from blinking out...

Jesus thats really dissapointing... no wonder they made a bios with 1.9vocre max....I hate all mobo/chipste makers...we want stable vcore ffs!!! The asus is worse than this evga 680i when it comes to vcore droop. Sjeezzz i take my words back and DFI is the way to go.

Wow, I guess I haven't noticed many product launches at Newegg before...is this the norm for them? I used to love Newegg, but between the gouging on this and the BadAxe2, they're losing some respect.

LOL I guess you didnt see the price of the quad core then did you?

1499.00
Its far cheaper on other sites, ive seen it for just over 1000.00.
So yes, its becoming the norm for newegg, I always thought they had great prices, but now im more aware of the gouging, i'll be shopping around more.

I'm pretty sure i read this answer in another thread somewhere, and the answer was no, it doesnt have that problem.

This board looks awesome but I think is better to wait a little more. I 've bought a P5W when they released because all the early reviews said that it was the best board for oc instead of 965 chipsets. I don't regret it but wouldn't mind if I have a P5B instead.
If this board can push 500 fsb in regular basis, no matter if its Conroe or Allendale, than it's worth it. But for now... maybe it'll get better with new bios. Unless you need a SLI board.
By norm, good is expensive but expensive may not be good.
Just received my order conformation from Newegg... cant wait!!!

i never paid more than $250 for a mobo, and never will. $409 for a mobo is too much(newegg) or $330 the MSRP

The eVGA 680i mobo has BIG problems when using 8800 SLI together with ANY kind of sound, no matter which soundcard, even onboard is broken. Totally ear and brain destroying screaching and crackling etc...
But ONLY when using 8800 cards running in SLI mode!
See this threads at eVGAs forum.

The problem is official now, and nvidia is working on this, as stated here by an official eVGA Tech-guy
Hi,
We have reproduced this issue [8800SLI + broken sound] here, and I can assure you that resolving this is a top priority right now for NVIDIA and EVGA.
Also, speaking on behalf of myself, the Asus Striker, it is the same chipset as the EVGA board, so should suffer this issue, but as I mentioned, we are working very hard to resolve this.
Thanks,
Could you please test whether this bug is alive on the Asus Striker Mainboard as well?
Just plug in any soundcard you want and play some games with 8800 SLI ENABLED. (Gothic3 demo would be perfect).
If there is a major design flaw with all 680i mainboards, the world has to know.

Haha, it means they don't validate their products properly...some shortcuts and beta testing missing.....
I have one EVGA myself, tried MSI GTO SLI, it worked. Now running a single 8800GTX, one does not need more for the moment.
Good to know, let's see how quick they fix it.

2 times the question is asked to Andre YAng, never answer.
So the cause of your non-responses is : there is a sound bug ?
Can you tell us, you have the mobo an SLI , so tell please.
