Would any of the quad cores out there mind trying the winrar benchmark? I am just curious what kind of gains 4 cores gets over 2 cores. I know it is mainly a memory test but lets take a look :)

After playing around with it for quite a while, this is the best I could get with my x6800 using the machine in my sig:

i would suggest running 2 instances of winrar for core2 and 4 for kentsfield - matching the number of cores, then you can add resulting bandwidth...

Winrar is a stupid way, its more platform dependent than cores. As an example I get around 1100 at 3Ghz with 1333FSB and CL4 DDR2-667. And I seen 2-2.5Ghz C2Ds with fast memory and 800Mhz+ memory beat mine easily. So its kinda a bad bench...

It is kinda a flaky bench, I just wanted to see if having the extra cores would actually help. It does have the "Multithreading" checkbox, and when I uncheck that I get a little over half of the speed I was geting with it checked. I'm sure it helps but it is very dependent on having the fastest memory at lowest timings possible.
