I'm really fed up at the moment

Just got my system set it all up and i've booted it up and it says it can't find the drive i've plugged in.
Yet when i go to the bios it's seen a 80g system drive in there?

So i saved and powered up again and no go still can't see it.
I've plugged the drive in the SATA RED port.

Please please someone help me out as i'm lost i don't no what to do and i've been on it for hours!

I wanted to use at least 3 Sata drives none on a Raid just a boot up disc and the other 2 for downloads and storage

Also how on earth are you meant ot connect the dvd drive from where the IDE port is i can't reach !

About had enough now please anyone help me

I've gone into the bios >"ide configuration" and changed it to Raid and now i get the option to press control I to set up a raid but i don't want to do that all i want to do is boot of one drive and use another as storage.
I've got a old windows xp of my old system on there is that what the problem could be ?

But why does it say after the inter matrix storage manager "can not detect drives?

I can't work it out i really can't got a headache now!

I've tried this set up : -

red socket for your boot drive. The other two (black) for Data.

Disable Sata raid in ide configuration.

Instead set it to:

Configure SATA as [Standard IDE]
Onboard IDE mode [Enhanced mode]
Enhanced mode Support on [SATA]

Tried that and it still the same see's them in the SATA menu that powers up . The one that lets you press ctrl and I to creat a raid but it won't boot up from there?

Do i need to install the Inter matrix drivers or the sata?

This what i get when the system starts in the American screen

Primary master driver atapi incompatible
cpu fan error ( no idea whats wrong there?)
press F1 to resume

it see's my 2 discs as :-
3rd master
3rd master
ultra dma mode-5 S.M.A.R.T capable and status ok

Please i'm so worried at the moment that i won't be able to fix it. Can anyone help me out ? :(

you have 2 drives correct? connect 1 to the intel controller either of the 2 on top there should be 3 total in that area just below where the memory sticks are. I dont think it even matters which one you connect it to. then connect the 2nd one to the jmicron controller which is under where the cpu is to the left a bit. dont use raid in the bios at all since you arent setting them up as raid drives.

this should work I have 6 sata drives on my system and only 2 in raid. I dont for sure know this will work because I dont run non-raid but it should.

oh I see you have 3 drives. use one on the intel controller and 2 on the ez backup sata ports just below it. or use all 3 of the intel controllers. it realy shouldnt be a problem.

Thanks for the rpely i'll try it when i get home i'm at work at the moment.
At the moment i have it that the os disc(this has my old systems os on it) is on the RED SATA port and the download driver is in the black on next to it.
I was planing on running 3 drives all together but no raid.

Just want a os drive and 2 download drives etc.
The pictures below show how i've got it at the moment.

I'm sure i tried this and it sees them in the bios and in the intel matrix storage manager.
But after that it comes up with can't detect disc?

I'm wondeirng if i need to install the interl matrix sata drivers on the disc. Pressing F6 on the windows disc?

Also can i connect my dvd drive on that blue port near the 3 ( red black black) Sata ports?

As the one at the bottom i don't have a cable that long to reach my dvd writer?

the ones on the disc are for running in raid. you shouldnt have to use them.
oh i forgot to say this before but I had to buy new ide cables for mine because I have it in such a large tower. the ide connecter is at the front of the board near the sata connecters. neither of your pictures will come up on that website for me so i cant help you more

oh i just saw that you are using your old os disk. I would think you need to reinstall windows but maybe not ive never tried that before except on the same motherboard.

thanks for your replies so it looks ok how i've connected my drives to the SATA ports but it's looking like i'll need to reinstall windows then and press F6 and install the SATA drivers ( had to do that with my old Abit board)

It isn't as if the board doesn't see my drives as it does in the inter matrix manager and in the bios.

Yeah i have a huge tower also and can't no where near to connect my dvd writer i'll move it so i can load windows cd and try to install that then.

Thanks anything else you can think off please post it

Ok i've reinstalled windows and used the intel matrix drive and everything seems to be working now.

I do have a small problem that when i boot the system up i get this message
Primary Master Drive - ATAPI Incompatible
Press F1 to Resume

I've got my cd drive connected to the bottom port. Though it's so far away from where my drive sits in th ebay i've got on the floor at the moment till i get a long cable.

I tried the port near where the floppy goes and the drive wouldn't read any disc's at all? So thats why i've moved it to this port.

Any help please??
