May be a silly question, but are these uber expensive motherboards (Striker Extreme, Abit Max) really worth the extra $$$ over the cheaper 680i motherboards? Sure it may have the LEDs, crazy voltage options, aluminum caps but even an "extreme" user can get 500+ fsb with that EVGA board on air (HARDOCP review)...Can anyone attest on how well the cheaper (still expensive) Asus P5N32-E SLI or motherboard fares? From what I can see, it too has the DTS conect sound card, the digital audio conections, heatpipes, etc etc.

I would imagine they would be just as good, if not in some cases better. I say this because the boards that dont have the extra bling wont need the extra traces on the board itself to suck power or interfer with.
Less is more in that case. Im eager to see what the 650i does.

Its not that I cant afford SLI, I just dont need to pay for it when I have an ATi card.
Price to performance of SLI isnt worth it IMO anyway. But thats for another thread :-D

I want the 650i SLI/Ultra as well. Will not use SLI, but still might be better for resale value, as I buy and sell hardware constantly.
Asus announced the P5N-E SLI , but no word on availability.
