I'm interested in buying a reliable PSU for my aircooled NF2/AXP2100+ system. I don't need a 500+ Watt Antec or TTGI PSU because I will be using a SLK-800 w/ a Thermaltake Smartfan to cool the CPU. The video card is an ATI Radeon 9500 Pro.

The question is, what is the best PSU for an aircooled (overclocked) system and how much power do I need? Most people seem to think that 350W is enough but I've seen people in this forum suggest that 430W is the minimum.

Here are some choices from a local computer store in Toronto:

Kingwin KWI-350W...$59 CDN
Enermax 350W EG365P-VE...$65 CDN
Thermaltake 360W...$68 CDN
CoolMAX 400W...$75 CDN
Enermax 430W EG465P-VE...$104 CDN
Antec TRUE 430W...$135 CDN

Thanks,
Yitch

I've got a 1900 mhz AMD (air) overclocked system (XP1700) with an Abit KD7, with 2 -120mm, 2 80mm fans, HDD, floppy, cdrw, 8500, all powered by an Antec 300 watt PSU, runs F@H 24/7/365 no problems... Been my experience that you don't always need at least a 400 watt psu.

save urself a assload of money get a TTGI 520SS it rox! best PSU for 69$ and strongest rails ever.
5v and 12v are adjustable via POT inside the PSU too.
www.directron.com has them
I have the one with triple fans as they were out of the quad fan ones.

I would go with a ttgi 420 or 520, but if you can't, a sparkle 350 is a good bet.

Out of the ones you posted, the Tt is the best cheap one. (never thought I'd ever say that), and the Antec is the best expensive one. I have one of those enermax 365's and they aren't very good. I have one in a p4 1.4 server running at default speeds at around 4.8v/11.6v.

They are called Super Flower or Sun Flower PSU's
something like that.

EWOK....the Hiper is the same as the TTGI....I have the 520w version....it only has one pot, which controls 5v and 12v rails.
Let me know if you want it......I may sell.

no ta bito if i buy anything to replace this 400w sparlke its either an antec trucontrol 550 or a pcpowerandcooling 510w

its just the noise levels thats going to swing it one way or another, especially as the pcp&c list theirs at 44dba which is hardly quiet and is putting me off! especially as eventually i want a prometeia and to try and keep this thing quiet.
