I saw on new egg today if you by xp media center you get vista premium for free. Xp media center is 120 bucks or so and vista premium as I understand it is 250. So should I just scoop up a copy of media center as a way to save on vista? I know this is kinda stupid and there is probably something I'm missing.

This is common. Retailers are suffering from a "wait for vista" sales slump, so they're giving away these Vista coupons. For the most part, I belive, they are OEM disks that they'll be sending. Don't know how that will affect things.
