Any good reasons why I should not buy Asus P5B Deluxe now and wait for Nvidia's 680i?

well, i hear the 680i is really, really nice. Very high fsb and clocks ram like beast. But it will release @ about $300.... so... $180 vs. $300. You'll get better performance clock per clock on the cpu AND you'll be able to run max ram clocks regardless of cpu. Is $120 extra worth it to you? It is to me!

No, I always use single card.
What I've heard (one guy told me) that on intel chipsets memory will be downgraded to 533 in case of 667 and to 400 in case of 533.
Is that true???
What will be the resulting frequency of:
1) 2GB (2x1) DDR2-800
2) 4GB (4x1) DDR2-800
3) 2GB (2x1) DDR2-667
4) 4GB (4x1) DDR2-667

P5B del. if you want an chance of hitting 500 Fsb,
I very much doubt the 680i will even crack 450 fsb,
but if it does then all the better....;)

According to this http://www.thetechrepository.com/showthread.php?t=46 both of the new DFI boards due out in November are capable of 500 FSB.

I hope he was drunk!
How about this. I found thia article on Xbit about ASUS P5W64 WS Professional
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/mainboards/display/asus-p5w64-ws_6.html
and they have mentioned this:
"ASUS P5B Deluxe mainboard allows the memory to run as 1:1: you can set it as DDR2-533, i.e. the memory will work at over 900MHz frequency. In case of ASUS P5W64 WS and P5W DH Deluxe mainboards, you should use a lowering 4:3 divider, so that the memory is set as DDR2-400. As a result it will run at 700MHz speed."
I worry about 4x1GB of Crucial 10th. Will I be able to run them all at 800+MHz, ?
Has anybody tried to run any of 4GB of 6400 or 5300 RAM? Will it be downgraded or it's only in case of 2GB per bank (total 8GB)?
Thanks!

let's see them in end users hands with 32M SPI benching :D
i'm sure they'll clock the RAM well.......Oscar factor :toast:

I just hope the DFI sli board will do 450 fsb so that I can finally build a E6600 sli machine.

Not sure what their problem was, but they are virtually the only review site that had OCing problems with the P5W64 WS.
Hexus hit 500FSB (http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=6635&page=7) with an unmodded board.
And need I point out some of the WRs done on it? ;)

That Hexus review you linked to just shows a picture of Cpuz & X6800 @ 6 x 500mhz FSB. That does'nt really mean anything. Just because the system posts at 500mhz FSB simply does not mean it can bench at that speed, and by bench I mean full load benching. Thats an irrelevant article to a lot of overclockers who only count on real world benching performance.

The P5B deluxe is capable of a 650 FSB according to the Asus site.
"- FSB tuning from 100MHz up to 650MHz at 1MHz increment"
In the real world, it can only go to ~500.
Don't believe anything before it's been tested.

Haha, where do they claim that it's capable of 650? They have just implemented a tuning range upto 650MHz, but they definitely do not claim that it would actually go that high.
I'd be interested in a 680i as well, just waiting for them to became availabe.

Don't wait for the 680i. The P5B has been tested to reach 500+ stable by us end users. So if you want get P5B for now, unless you're not in a hurry and want to upgrade like in next two months then we'll see.
