I just installed a CNPS9500 AT on an E6400 CPU. The installation was easy. But, because the cooler is attached to the CPU by a single S-clip with only 2 screws, it slightly moves sideways if I touch it. Is this the way it works? I soubt I made any mistakes when installing it.

I am not to sure about this but i remeber reading on a thread that the fan is a little bit loose once installed and it will slightly move side to side. Also it doesnt weight much but it sticks out so much from the socket that it counters the pros of having less weight . Im sure some experts here will help you out on this one soon.

same thing here gonna change it soon
Every 9500 does that. I don't think it affects the coolers performance that much. Bigger problem with 9500 is that the base is concave in many of those coolers.

My 9500 which is mounted on a 148 Opteron on an Expert board is solid as a rock. I'm not sure how it fits other setups.
Try flipping the clip around and try it that way. I had some difficulties when I first mounted it as well.
