I liked the demo a lot. Fighting is a lot of fun as its very fast and arcade, but still easy to control.
That game is on my list for sure.

beat this in under 10 hours... The game has way too many bugs and the fighting gets boring after a few hours. Also the diffuclty is extremely unbalanced, I played it on hardest difficulty and never broke a sweat. The boss of the game died after like 30 seconds and didnt even get my health down half way. Considering I had plenty of ways to heal myself it was just really dumb. He could have been at least 10-20x stronger. Same can be said for most other creatures, later on they die in 1-2 hits and do like no damage.

Ah the Might & Magic franchise, tis close to my heart. MM2 was my first real computer game, played on a Tandy (not counting text adventures played on an Apple IIe). I have played them all, not including the latest release of Dark Messiah. Some were great and some sucked.

RPG's, also close to my heart. I have played many: pen & paper (D&D, AD&D, editions 1st through 3rd), the Wizardry series, the Elder Scrolls series (Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion), SSI/D&D games, etc. Some were great and some sucked.

For those that have played Dark Messiah: Is there any role-playing, quests, character and gameplay choices (other than how to defeat an opponent)? Or is it a fps in the guise of a fantasy role-playing game, where the only real choices are combat style and equipment? (which is ok, if done right).

Is there a construction set or level editor/creator released with the game also? That would be cool.

There is like 3 story choices that do nothing major in the end, so yeah the only real choices are combat style and equipment, which are also quite limited.

Its not really a role play game in the traditional style. Its more like a action based fps with swords and other old weapons and a little bit of role playing.

But I liked the demo very much. The way you fight is nothing compared to Oblivion and the like. Fights are very arcade and full of action. I liked that really much. Cant wait for the game release in Germany :)

I played the online beta and hated it

The fighting style is very unique and fun, but online it is so lame when 2+ fighters gang up on you, it just turns into random slashing. The play gets boring, very fast

no, sadly I dont. The game overall took me 10h. Most enemies can be klilled with one kick due to the extremely high amount of clifs, traps and spikes everywhere.

I have yet to see a good game that uses the Steam engine. Vampires: Mascerede bloodlines was another that used the steam engine. A longer game IIRC but very buggy and made poor use of the steam engine.

I played the demo of this and wasn't impressed.

The game is too linear, nice graphics and all but if I only have set paths then I get very bored very quickly..

I actually liked bloodlines, however I beat it about a year after release when most of the bugs have been worked out. At least that game had somewhat of a storyline not like the useless little thing that made up dark messiah.

Sorry to go OT. It has a good story, but it didn't make use of the steam engine very well. I quit playing it, couldn't stand all the bugs.
