running the average 7200rpm 300gig drive for the o/s got a chance to pick this server box with this inside http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/products/scsi/pci_hba/AHA-2940AU/
with a 9Gb SCSII system drive as the o/s drive.
Im reading the pci to scsi has a transfer of 20mb/ sec
is this of any concern? or does it not matter cause the scsi spindle speed will make up for anything.

Is there anyplace in particular where you can shop for industry tower server boxes. I ask this cause this server box comes in a tall tower shape and has 2 400watt psupplys.

You might get 15-18MB/s transfer rate out of that controller, if a 9GB drive that ancient can even manage that. Your 300GB drive is probably doing a sustained 45-60MB/s.

Even if the 9GB drive is running at 10k RPM, it's going to be very slow overall.
