Hi folks,

I've built a htpc for the living room which i must say is great, in order to keep noise to a minimum ive dropped the zalman 9500 cpu coole to 5v and run the cpu undervolted at 1.1v, the two system fans are at 5 also so now i can hear a fly fart with the sound turned down. That is if it wasnt for the psu. I's an old 520 ,quiet psu' which i modded with some althernative fans (2x80 mm) the trouble is they are making too much noise. So i need an ultra quiet solution without spending a fortune can anyone recommend something to suit that will be around 9/10 db or would it be advisable to take out the two current fans and replace them with 1 ultra quiet one attached to a 5v power supply? This machine is purely for surfing and playing music movies and tv so i dont need high end gear, just super quiet, tks.

DoH!

i'm looking for something that someone actually rates as most of the semi fanless ones are noisier than the name suggests.i looked at the zero dba model mentiond in an earlier thread but they aren't available in the uk yet (google search)

Thanks, i checked it ou, looks like it woul do the trick but he price here is £123 pound + shipping to Northern ireland (they gouge the     out of postage to here even though it should be as cheap as the rest of the UK) about £15 so converted to $ that comes out at $259 USD. It's exactly what i need but the price is a killer. I know i can pick up a couple of 8db 80mm fans for around £10 each so i may try this method and see how the temps hold up. I'll post in the mods section if it does the job.

Thanks nn_step.

if I remember correctly the phantom doesn't even have a fan, no worries about modding it
