In august, I rebuilt my main system as you can see in my sig. My first run of 3DMark 05, I got 9,151 3DMarks. That was stock speeds, no overclock. I overclocked the X2 to 2.2Ghz and I got 9,171 3DMarks. Now it is at 2.5Ghz with the RAM divider at 5-6, making the RAM 208Mhz. The HT multiplier is at 4, the HT is 1000. The 7800 GTX is not overclocked. I ran it last night and got 8,599 3DMarks. Since I got a lower score at a higher speed, does this mean that my computer is not as good as it was at stock speed. SP2004 Orthos ran for 2 hours, but I stopped it because it was late. I've heard that thats the problem with benchmark programs, but is my computer really suffering now that its overclocked? Does Futuremark have this problem, so should I try other programs like Aquamark 3?

as long as its stable then it shouldn't lose points in 3dmark...
im thinking you've got other programs running in the background and its using up some of your cpu. try changing 3dmark05's priority to above normal or higher in task manager. if that doesn't help, then maybe you need to free up some memory.

Using a divider can do some weird things somtimes. Overclock your system with a 1:1 divider and note the results.

Yeah, are you running 1T or did you go to 2T with tour overclock/divider? Going from 1 to 2T could do it. Run 3dmark06, that will give you a better cpu score evaluation  (the actual cpu score below the video scores).

I haven't tried uping the priority yet, but I will today. I close out everything that is not necessary in the Processes and system tray.

I had it at 2.4Ghz on 1:1, but it was very unstable, rebooting every 10 mins or so. So I uped the speed and used the divider and I just ran SP2004 Orthos 17 hours today while I was at work, no problems so I closed it.

I did not change anything else with the RAM, but maybe the BIOS changed it from 1T to 2T. I didnt do it manually but ill check and see what it was stock. It's 1T right now so i'm guessing it didnt change.

This happened before now that I remember it with my old Asus board and AMD 3000+. I had just got it from Alienware so I did the Asus 5% Overclock thro the BIOS and the score dropped a little bit. Let me go install 3DMark06 and ill post the stock and overclocked results.
