Hey guys, I just got a brilliant idea. I was wondering how I was going to mod my case (without any tools) to fit in another BIP2, and I decided I have a great place to run my computer caseless. At the bottom of my TV/Monitor stand is a huge open area. Pictured here: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d159/Seufari/000_0045.jpg
Dust will probably be my biggest concern, but I think the airflow from the fans will help a lot, and if that is not enough, then I'll blow it with canned air every once in a while. So my questions to you guys are:
What else should I be worried about as far as a long term caseless computer is concerned?
What should I do when I need to vacuum the room?
Should I even consider placing my components there?
Any tips or suggestions are welcomed.
Thanks

ive been caseless for a couple months now (yeah, i would of never thought i would let my rig there that long!!)
if your biggest concern is dust then i wouldnt worry about it too much, maybe put a blanket in front or your shelter to cover it a bit. what i was (and still am) the more worried about was my friends to drop something on it or spill something on it, but where u want to put it it looks alright and safe.

yeah... I have a desk another 2 feet deep infront of that opening, so I dont think accidents will be too likely. I dont have any pets or children that could mess it up so I think I am going to go for it.
My main two concerns now are the increase in noise? (Will there be an increase in noise?)
and...
Vacuuming? If I am careful can I eliminate the possibility of vacuuming ruining my rig?

There wont be an increase in noise you will just get better air flow that can drop temperature up to 4 degrees
it is better not to vacuum the cpu it self may be around the motherboard if you have to remove dust then use something thing that can push air not suck air

I always thought that case-less pc's were more prone to overheating. The case fans create a current of air, that just wont be there if you take it all out the box.
Running caseless is great. Way lower temps. Sometimes for diagnositc i use to run systems on the desk openair.
I've been thinking about it for a while. But sometimes i stretch my legs into there.
If you got the room, and is very safe area, go for it. Only problem could be height i think?

When I was changing motherboard every week I used to run my PC next to the monitor on the desk. With the watercooling rad thrown out the window.
I found it was pretty safe to do so.
Dont ever put a vacume cleaner anywhere near your PC.. static might kill it!
The only thing I found was that running watercooling I had to be carefull to position fans caefully so that HDD's and motherboard power regulation (and even soundcard chip) got good airflow. I used double sided tape to stick 120mm fans to the desk
Its also a good idea to earth the motherboard and HDD's to the PSU with some wire. Or better yet run the motherboard in a tray to support the cards and earth the PSU and HDD's to that.
I didnt run a tray as I was sick of unscrewing the motherboard all the time.
