Anyone want to give me some suggestions on a good desktop case for air cooling? I'm looking for something rather large height wise. Preferably I think would be nice if the top was all mesh metal. i'm open to any suggestions, not as many cases out there for desktops as there are for towers.
*edit* I want to use a large Scythe hsf for the cpu and Im not sure yet but will probably use something similarly large for NB and at least a large heatsink for the southbridge. so vertifical height is key. needs to be rather large in vertical height :\ *edit*
thanks in advance for any help.

Silverstone TJ-06, semi mesh front, not the top. Get it at Fry's if you want a cheaper price. Oh, desktop... Silverstone makes a good assortment of those too, I'll get a link in a few mins. Theres only 26 desktop cases to choose from on newegg, and most just have 60mm or 80mm sized mesh blowholes on the top.

NZXT Zero is great for air cooling. Comes with 7 120mm fans.
Another case that has some mesh top, Coolermaster Stacker 830.

I've got the Scythe Infinity and Silverstone TJ-06, if its the hsf that worries you in case of it cracking your mobo, then just place some brass spacers underneath it if you get the TJ-06. Mine has 5/16" of space between the bottom of my Infinity and the bottom of the case, and thats with a AW9Dmax mobo.

i just want a desktop with good airflow that will work with a scythe infinity or similar large tower hsf. something that I can throw em front fans into. perhaps i'll just need to get a tower. but i just wanted a desktop instead of a tower and put it on my desk.

Sorry my bad, you don't need a tower to fit the Infinity. You can put the Infinity in the LIAN LI PC-60APLUSII

Hehe, no-one seems to be reading the OP. Have you had a look a tthe Silverstone Lascala or crown series? There is a big range, with some very nice cases, even including ones with LCD screens built in to the front.

ya only thing i'm worried about is i haven't seen alot with the ability to have a tuniq tower or scythe nina installed. gosh maybe i should go for some water cooling. i can't get the fan configuration right in my head. :D
I was thinking even mounting 4 120mm fans on the top, under the case top of the desktop. to suck hot air out the top of the desktop. I would think this would be pretty efficient. perhaps with risers and 4 120mm fans blowing up on the system from the bottom. lol. hrm, im gonna need lots of fans!! :D
i just haven't seen very many tall desktop systems.

Just get a stacker and a slot loading DVD/CD drive and lay the stacker on its side... hey presto you have a desktop case.:p:

Any Lian-Li or Silverstone desktop is hard to beat. Personally I like Lian-Li more, always have been easier to use and work with.

Perhaps you can clear us up by clarifying what you mean by DESKTOP?
What do you mean? HTPC? FULL Tower? Mid Tower?

Shift - a desktop case is one that lays flat. some call it a htpc case. but the term htpc case is just a new term that case manufacturers use to squeeze an extra 100$ out of ya. :)

Well most people call it a HTPC case. I was getting confused because at first you say that you want a desktop, then you want a Stacker.
I pulled this definition from dictionary.com:
small or compact enough to fit or be used on a desk
The LIAN LI PC-60APLUSII can fit an Infinity and is small enough to put on a desk, so you can see my confusion.
Also you never mentioned a budget on your case.
