I am currently undervolting my acer 3610 with a pentium M 740 processor and I want to know when to stop.
stock voltage: 1.356
current undervolt 1.004
I am wondering what would be a safe undervolt. I am running Prime 95 right now and it's at the 192k FFt length should I go down to .988 or just stay at 1.004.(the startup voltage is .988)

Wherever it is stable is where you should keep it. The lower the better (for your battery life).

Being actually underclocking my sony vaio vgn-fj170q (p-m 740), for the lowest multi (6x) I hit .7v and high clocks -- I'm at 1.004v as lower than that would give me errors in prime95 and 1.004 seems stable for now (been running for 45mins+) -- You should run the LARGE FFTs, as they will put more load on the cpu, hence giving you a more accurate "stability" readout.
I'm topping @ 50c now, full load @ 1.007v, much better than the 60c I was hitting!
I tried .988 and lower and got major errors, but each and every processors are different, you might want to try yours.
PS: Sorry for the thread resurrection :(

Well, my Pentium Mobile 1,73GHz runs stockspeed at 0,924 Volts and 0,7V at 6x multiplier. :)
I guess it depends how good you CPU is.. but lower it until it crashes - then raise it a bit again.
My Pentium M 760 also runs at 0.7v @ 800mhz and a little over 1v at 2GHz

Undervolting ain't dangerous is it?

actually, no, small ffts will fit entirely in cashe and stress the cpu more. large is more ram-intensive.
@those who think undervolting is dangerous: it's not, unless you go too low and cause problems with the voltage regulator, but that's basically a non-issue when we know that the regulators can do .7v (it's basically standard on cpu vreg stuff)

OKey.. I didn't think it was dangerous anyway..
