New to the Radeon X1950 Pro is the inclusion of an internal CrossFire connector. Gone is the need for a master and slave card configuration of higher end Radeon X1900XT/CrossFire and Radeon X1950XTX/CrossFire graphics cards. This time around ATI has integrated the CrossFire compositing engine into the graphics core itself. Communication between two graphics cards in CrossFire is performed via internal CrossFire connector. The internal CrossFire connector is expected to ship with the graphics card and be a ribbon type cable, similar to some SLI bridge connectors. Also new with the Radeon X1950 Pro is a new single-slot cooler. The new cooler is similar to the unit used on Radeon X1950XTX graphics cards, albeit half the width.

x1950 pro vs x1900xt 256mb
Lower number of pixel shaders and Texture Units + lower clocks still very close performance hw come ?

rubbish comparison or ATI improved something inside the RV570.

Not useful because main advantage of x1950pro is not single card performance, its bridged crossfire using two of the same cards.

power consumption is a big++ though... I mean 54watts off the X1900XT so only around 80W. I highly doubt those benchmarks.

it is a bit hard to see how the pro beat the xt but if it can i am all for it. but the 7900gto would be a far better buy and with dx 10 around the corrner it is sort of not worth it.

I think the x1950pro is worth it. It cost around 195 euro, against the 7900gto 250 euro.
And because dx10 is around the corner, i think the x1950pro is a better buy then the 7900gto, because its cheaper, so you can hold on with this card till R600, if you dont want to pay 500/600 euro/dollar for some GF8 cards.

This card should clock like hell, 80nm should go over 750mhz core. (stock hsf)
The only problem could be the digital-vrm, which dont allow software voltage control on the x1900GT (same card as x1950pro,only 90nm and differend speeds). If this card can be software voltmodded, then it would be a good buy, because the 7900gto doesn't clock that well.

It wouldn't surprise me if the x1950pro has the same voltage as the X1900GTrev2. 80nm should consume less power, so the higher clocks should be possible on the X1900GT voltages.

I am quite interested in this card, but unless someone can find a way to increase core voltages, i will not be picking one up.

Notice Memory speed difference between the cards and notice the difference in performance. The greater the difference the Bigger the performance difference. Right now memory clock is more important than Core clocks for ATi

The X1950Pro indeed looks real nice. I´m looking forward for final benchs.

Fist post here... long time lurker.

Sorry to bring back this thread from page 2 but has anybody seen this?

http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/digest3d/index0609.html

In that article the 1950Pro seens to be a stock 7900GS competitor at best. I hope dailytech has the right numbers...

BTW, sorry for my crappy english.

Edit: click on the links in Part 4 of the article to see the 1950Pro numbers.

so when exactly will we be seeing these on sale at major retailers?

Remember that dailytech actually shows pictures of the card, hence physical proof they have one.

Also, the cards were approved for by PCI-E on October 1st...there's no way a guide udpated till Sept 15th 2006 can have X1950pro numbers.

You know what else is screwy...its showing x1650xt numbers...which I know no one, even in the most "priveleged" circles, has...so yea, those numbers are fake...the x1650xt is to be released oct 30th, x1950pro on the 17th...wait for official review numbers...the digit life numbers look very fraudulent.

good to know Perkam,

Guess we just gotta wait 1 more week to see some overclocking / crossfire benches. I do hope that someone figures out how to increase voltage on these digital vrms...

I too hope that digitlife has the wrong numbers. I need a good $200 replacement card for my dead 1900XT till G90 and R700 or whatever they will name them. I think I won't grab any first generation DX10 card.

As for the digital vrms, look at this: http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4132

I hope Shamino succeeds at that:woot:

I'm sure Shamino will figure something out

I am very interested in these cards because of the 80nm shrink, and that they are going to consume a lot less power vs R580 based cards. In fact, I am likely going to sell my x1900xtx and pick up one of these, maybe two depending on what kind of gains we see in the new dual-connector crossfire mode

So, i assume this cooler is going to be used on the X2600XT and lower? Provided they arent as toasty as our beloved R600? :D
