I had a recent opportunity to grab a 60B Panel Meter made by Beckman Industrial Corp. Its rated to measure -200C to 400C with a ~0.5C accuracy. Very easy to use and can accept power from 12-24v dc, 110vac, 220vac. Hooks to a single K type thermocouple nicely and just reads temperatures. Its also about the size of TWO floppy drives stacked so is quite nice for phase systems where fan control or relay is not needed.
Here's some shots testing it in ice water, room temp, warming up, and finnally boiling (It was jumping between 96 and 97c, and the water was at a raging boil, i don't think you can really hit 100C with an open topped pot.)

Also the lighting behind is red, but isnt visible without the front screen, maybe some blue acrylic would add a nice effect, maybe even green? Who knows but I think I'll try! :)

There ya go!
These things are great, maybe Ill take a shot of the PCB later.

water boils at 100c at mean sea level. the higher above that the lower the temperature.

Ya but when the pots open and you don't feal like waiting you hardly ever manage to reach 100C. Mayb when I get home I'll have it temperature my sealed boiler. (No escape of gases and boils water pretty awesomely)

sealed boiler = BOMB .....you guys worry me did't anybody take physics or even science.:nono: :nono:

water expands 1200 to 1 iirc going from liquid to vapor(steam)

Bit different than your thinking, not as sealed as I said, but its got a solenoid relief valve that opens @ 300 psi and then runs down thru a water condenser (basically a condenser with a fan on it).

LoL well tonight i boiled some more water and the screen kept flopping between 98 and 99C the entire damn time. Can't seem to get a perfect 100. Oh well :P

You're within your accuracy range.

+/- 0.5 deg C for the meter and +/- 1.5 deg C for the type K thermocouple.

It's not 100% pure water per say so don't worry about it noob :)
