What's wrong with the OCZ 700W unit? You say "Yuk"

Im actually RMAing it.. Its not performing well. PC wont boot with it. I had this problem before....
I love the powerstreams but somehow the Gamextremes are shy when making aggresive overclocks...

I have a 600W Powerstream and it rocks. Running the rig in my sig plus WC'ing, lots of lights, etc. It is rock steady...Great PSU. The high end ones you linked are dreams for me.

Quality and dependable are two words that are covered by PCP&C, I have yet to see one die. Their Quality control is wonderful, They only use quality parts and they are covered by a top notch lifetime warranty.

I would go with it but it will be quickly surpassed in the next few months by a few other 1000w power supplies coming to the market.

I got one, and I love it. It's honestly not as loud as the GameXStream I previously had.
And, since when do they offer lifetime warranty? It says only 5-year limited.
Nick, i've never heard anything of the sort of them dying. You must be mistaken.

Ask FCG about his experience with PCP&C :p:

I've seen them die. Not long ago, there was a rash of 510's failing due to a faulty coil - to their credit however, the OEM (Win-Tact) got on the problem quickly and the problem was solved fast.

Yeah I agree, get the Enermax Galaxy 1k over the P&PC Cooling. Modular cables, cheaper, and it performs just as well, although their is ripple at the Crossloads on the 3.3v rail and the 5v rail.

Still an overall awesome unit, with an unbeatable price/performance ratio.

Like what other PSUs? I have only seen ThermalTake showing something off at CeBit, if I remember correctly. I'd like to know some more on this, as it might influance my future PSU upgrade.

Does anyone know of a side by side comparison of PSUs?
I'd be interested in seeing what's out there in terms of comparrisons.

one of those 510's was mine , it shot sparks and belched smoke , quite entertaining actually
pcp&c took care of the problem in a very nice manner with cross shipping and a good discount on a differant psu

No psu is worth buying if it costs more than $330...why ?
Because the most powerful PSu on the face of the earth can be had for less than that: http://store.myaopen.com/psl6850p.html

That was my first choice but I've heard of serious regulator problems when running some serious load... Can't confirm though...

1. Seventeam 850 and 1000W models
2. HEC 900w
3. FSP group 1000w
4. Enhance 1000w and 1100W
5. Amacrox 1000w
6. Channel Well 1200w/Thermaltake 1200w
These power supplys will all be out soon and some already are like the Seventeam models. OCZ will also be releaseing a 1000w power supply as everyone has already heard.

Can someone post an example setup where one would need 1K OSU.. I'm still baffled why 1kw would be needed.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned problems with multi-rail PSU's. I wouldn't buy most of those PSU's mentioned because they're all multi-rail.
Me and two friends of mine, on AMD single-card video setups (1 7900GTX, 2 1900XT's) had 3 separate PSU's fail on us with heavy overclocks on our CPU's/Video. All three were replaced by a single 12v rail power-supply and it fixed the problem. The culprits were:
Antec 550W TruePower II / 12v1 = 19A, 12v2 = 19A
CoolerMaster 600W / 12v1 = 18A, 12v1 = 18A
Thermaltake 680W / 12v1 = 13A, 12v2 = 38A, 12v2 = 15A
All of the above caused random lockups/shutdowns and slowing down of systems during operation. With the Antec, whenever the computer was under load you could hear every fan in the case slowing down.
I haven't been sold on multi-rail PSU's. All of the above failed, but when replaced with a 560W Silverstone Zeus with 38A on a single 12v rail, all issues were remedied.
Has anyone heard of the 1000W model that PCP&C is coming out with soon? It has 72A on a single-rail and is made specifically for the G80/R600, from what I hear.
