Hello all you peeps...new to the Forum :)

Be kind with me.....LOL :p:

I am getting the Swiftech Apex Ultra WC kit this week and want your best advice on what case will best suit this?

I really love the P180 and know from reading a few threads here that it is possible to mod fit the kit.

Will this have an impact on HD fitting space in this case?......as I have 2 x 150 Raptors and 1 x Seagate Barracuda 320 drive......?

Or should I go for another case?

I really don't want everything too crammed and am pretty lazy when it comes to modding cases....:D

Any help greatly appreciated.....

S.

Get a bigger case. WC will be cramped in the P180, not to mention I've heard running wires is hard in that case. Get something like a Coolermaster Stacker STC-T01 for more WC space.

Will I need the optional 'crossflow fan' if I get that case?

No. The Crossflow will help decrease overall sys temps, but it isn't needed.

Also where do you live? There are Stackers in the U.S. going for $90 AR.

I'm in UK.....sorry....have updated that in my profile....:)

I can get the Stacker here for £100....is that OK?

Eeek £100 is kinda steep, but not a horrible price. It will be worth it though as the case has alot of water cooling potential. If you could find it cheaper it would be better for you, but the Stacker STC-T01 is a great case for WC.

Yeah.....only thing I see is that the Stacker looks 'ugly' compared to the P180 LOL.......?

Also.....I'd prefer the Rad (double) to be installed externally.....will that mean drilling holes in the Stacker for that purpose? (like I would have to do with the P180)?

If you are installing the rad externally then you shouldn't have to drill holes for anything except maybe a tubing pass thru. If you install it externally all you need is a swiftech rad box and hang the radiator off the back of the case.

If you want some ideas on how to install your watercooling set, then maybe it's wise to look in the Stacker Slacker thread (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=102550) (is only about stacker) and the picture galery in the watercooling section. (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=34877) The latter one has a lot of different sets in different cases and if you go to the last 10 or so pages then you will find some more recent builds. I think that that picture galery is a great place to get ideas.

If you get a triple-sized radiator and the Stacker STC-01 there's actually an extremely convenient method for installing it without making an holes at all and allowing very short tubing lengths.

edit: without the radbox, that is.

That's the idea...yes....but I still need somewhere to bring in the inlet and outlet connections from the Rad? (which are at the top) which surely still means that I will have to drill 2 holes in the case?

My last case (Thermaltake Armor which got stolen) would be OK I suppose as it had these holes pre-drilled......

I never knew it was so hard to pick a d@mn case LOL!!!

WTF, stolen? You mean with the entire computer in it ofcourse (I guess), was there a robbery at your house or at a huge LAN party? Must have been a PITA. But on the other hand, it gives you a nice opportunity to look for something new and different.

I had a brand new motorcycle stolen from me. It was only a month old and I lost 2 grand after I got my insurance settlement. I know it sucks to have something stolen from you.
