 http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=20189
Adding to the long list of “I can’t believe they said that” comes this statement from SCEW’s VP during this interview. Saying that people in Europe don’t mind getting the shaft all the time because they are used to it is insane. I got an idea, how about launching there first for a change?
European consumers have shown that historically they don't mind that, because they end up buying as many PlayStations, if not more, than the US and Japan. In Europe, it doesn't seem that the release of our platforms after the US and Japan - in the long run - affects how consumers feel.
Wow. Is this another self-evident own-goal for Sony's catastrophic PR machine? Could well be. The fact that people buy PlayStations after delays doesn't mean they're not cheesed off, just that they still want one. Sony appears to care for nothing but its own bottom line, which won't sit well with hardcore gamers, who are swiftly losing interest in the Sony platform, especially given the WiiSixty Christmas that is on the horizon.

Of course, the Europeans were always the patient ones:).

To be honest I don't care about the ps3 delay for Europe because I'd rather wait until it drops in price and has a few top caliber games avaliable - final fantasy, tekken, mgs etc.
So the earliest I'd consider a ps3 is next xmas anyway.
What does cheese me off though is that we have to pay far more for the console when we finally get it, and more per game.
And some games take ages in conversion from NTSC to PAL - quite why games can't be coded from the start to switch from pal to ntsc is beyond me, considering most games are released here with the 50hz(pal)/60hz(ntsc)/pal60(576i-60hz) options avaliable

I'm not bothered about the PS3 at all any more. Any pat of me that was considering getting one has disappeared thats to this comment. If I do ever buy one it will be second hand so Sony don't get any money for it.

If I still lived in Europe than I wouldn't mind the delay either, since real life there is much more accessible, theres really no reason for the average European to complain, unless they live out in the middle of nowhere, but buses still usually run out in the rural areas.
That kind of crappy attitude has just sealed my reasons not to get one.
If i dont mind delays then sony doesnt mind me not getting one.
The cheek! :slapass: :nono: :slap:
What's new?
We already know that Sony's top-level decision makers live on a planet other than Earth.
It's so sad. Sony does, or at least used to, employ some of the top talent in the technical world, and they had the will and efficiency to drive it to solid, working products during the heyday of Japanese tech products. Now all this is ruined in politics, in particular in the clear subordination of technical issues to digital rights issues at Sony.

Even though I had Intel for years AMD just works better for me... no AMD vs Intel flame intended...

LOL, just because Sony says this doesn't make the PS3 suck.
Although I, as an European, don't agree with this statement. Why is it so hard to make a world wide launch?

Sure we don't mind one bit, the Wiiii isn't delayed so who needs a PS3. Maybe next year at X-mas, this year it's Wiii all the way.

oh god I hate that ATRAC3 crap.
Besides, MD players were never good either. Sony hasn't really made anything good for years, besides PS line, really, they had nothing going for them. Always crap design and always stupid nonstandard solutions. Like the repackaged SD cards. Great idea? Sony thinks so.

Slap in the face after slap in the face, this year it's about the Wii and eventually an X360:woot:

The Europeon posters in this thread may have proved the Sony exec right. They're taking the news pretty well. On the other hand the the U.S. posters seem willing to be outraged and impatient for them. ;) :D

As much as everrrrrrrryone in the world is bashing the PS3, and i mean everyone, pple who bash it claim they won't buy it, etc. etc... i think they may still buy one eventually if they did buy a PS2(this is essential).
that goes for me as well. No, I will NOT buy one at launch, for various reasons(premium prices, bugs to be discovered, not many launch titles..etc.)...but eventually, in the end, I will probably end up buying one, might give it 2-3 years, but yes, I'd take one.... even if it doesn't prove to be as graphically powerful as the xbox360, its true, it's the gameplay that counts, and I'll admit that I'm a sucker for the Gran Turismo series(except part 3, and anything else they might rush again...hopefully not for ps3), plus other exclusive titles, such as tekken, soul calibur, and maybe final fantasy(though I admit I haven't played since ff7)

I've never owned a console, except a PS1 that eventually broke, and I switched to emulation to play my favourite Megaman X side-scrollers.

No we just expected this in the back of our minds and have gone way past the point of caring about the console at all. So yeah, we are taking it well, because half of us decided we weren't going to bother with it ages ago :D

in europe we get it late we pay more and yet still we buy more. why bother treating us any better, if they did then the usa and japan would have to lose out then and we dont complain as much as you do.
the uk price of the 60gb ps3 is $795, ($677 without sales tax) and thats as well as getting it 4 months late.
