for about a month now, my PC has been randomly shutting down during periods of heavy download traffic (torrents or Limewire etc).

ive already checked out the hardware and returned to stock  , ive uninstalled and reinstalled and patched my download clients, and ive removed any beta packs i had. but it still does it.

i recently went from hardlined to wireless with my router setup - all my gear is netgear so compatability shouldnt be an issue. im using a USB wireless adapter and seperate W-Hub and ADSL router.

all the other PCs in my house are fine and dont experience a problem but none of them do any line-max'd DLs (100kB/s+). any ideas anyone?

I had this problem also when I was using an AMD system. When I changed to Conroe, I reinstalled Windows and the problem was gone. Never knew what the problem was.......but I think re-installing Windows did the trick for me. :)

Never heard of a machine re-booting in this scenario. Lot's of rigs need to modify max connections in the torrent client to prevent the router/modem from crashing, that's common.

it seems to be a ptoblem with the RAM usually when the computer is shutting down.

run the memtest82 and search for erors.
